For Nicole Woods, skincare is more than a routine — it’s a return to presence. What began as small, personal blends rooted in nature and care for her family has grown into Wildroot Alchemy, a brand centered on emotional well-being as much as physical results. By combining gentle, plant-based formulations with the power of daily rituals, Nicole is helping people slow down, reconnect, and transform everyday moments into something grounding, intentional, and deeply restorative.
Nicole, Wildroot Alchemy blends skincare with emotional well-being. What inspired you to create products that go beyond traditional beauty and into daily ritual?
My interest in holistic wellness began through small, intentional practices like meditation, gratitude rituals, and time spent in nature. Being outside always felt grounding and restorative for me, and over time, I started to bring that same sense of calm into my daily life through blending. What began as creating oils for friends and family to support things like skin concerns, headaches, and congestion slowly expanded into something much deeper.
I began to see how these blends could support not just the body, but the emotional experience as well. I used rollers during moments of anxiety to help bring myself back to center, and with my son, I started creating gentle rituals to help him feel safe and comforted, like using room sprays to ease his fears of nightmares and “monsters” at night. Those small moments showed me how powerful plant-based support can be when it is paired with intention.
Wildroot Alchemy grew from that space. It is about creating more than just skincare. It is about offering a way to slow down, reconnect, and bring elements of nature into modern life through simple, meaningful rituals that support both your skin and your inner world.
As a certified aromatherapist, how do you approach selecting essential oils that support both the skin and the nervous system?
I always begin with the core intention of the product, whether that is hydration, balancing the skin, or supporting something like congestion relief. From there, I build the blend around that primary purpose.
Because my family and I have sensitivities including allergies, asthma, and eczema, it is incredibly important to me that my formulations are gentle and approachable. I am very mindful about selecting oils that support the body without overwhelming it.
I typically use three to five essential oils per blend, choosing ones that complement and enhance the main oil. What matters most to me is that each blend supports both the physical need and the emotional experience. Not every product is meant to calm. Some are designed to uplift, awaken, or restore energy.
It is about creating a well-rounded formula where the emotional benefit of the essential oils works in harmony with the physical support for the skin or body, so you are not just using a product, you are experiencing it.
Your body oils are designed to be both functional and sensory. How do you balance effectiveness with the overall experience of using the product?
Function always comes first. In the Apothecary line, the focus is on supporting specific concerns, so the formulation is rooted in effectiveness above all else.
With body and facial oils, hydration, skin barrier support, and gentle restoration are the foundation. I blend using a formula that I learned in my studies, but I pair that with my intuition and my nose to make sure I am truly creating the best product possible for my customers.
Once that functional base is established, I then layer in essential oils that complement those benefits while creating a beautiful sensory experience.
It is about finding that balance where the product truly works for your skin, but also invites you into a moment of enjoyment, connection, and intention.
You mentioned creating simple, approachable rituals. Why do you think people today are craving these kinds of grounding daily practices?
We live in a world where everything feels fast paced and overstimulating. Even skincare has become a long, multi step routine that can feel more like another task than something nourishing.
I think people are craving a return to simplicity, something that feels natural, intuitive, and grounding.
My goal is to bring us back to that slower rhythm rooted in plant wisdom and ancestral practices, where even a small moment like applying an oil becomes something you want to do. A pause to breathe, reset, and reconnect while still supporting your skin in a meaningful way.
With your upcoming On-The-Go Apothecary kits, how are you making plant-based wellness more accessible for both adults and families?
The Apothecary originally started as individual blends, but I wanted to create something more practical and easier to take anywhere.
The On-The-Go Apothecary kits were inspired by travel and everyday life. When you are out, whether on a trip, at the park, or navigating a busy day, you do not want to carry an entire medicine cabinet. These rollers give you simple, plant-based support in a way that fits into your bag, your routine, and your life.
Creating a kids version was especially personal to me. My son experienced ongoing sinus infections and respiratory challenges from a young age, and I struggled to find gentle, effective options for him. That led me to begin blending specifically to support him long before I became certified.
The kids Apothecary is designed to be safe and supportive for little ones starting at 6 months, giving parents a natural alternative they can feel confident using.
Everything I create is rooted in that intention. Clean, plant-based and thoughtfully formulated so families can have supportive tools without worrying about additives, chemicals, or artificial ingredients.
