With the launch of Hasson Studios and a new weekly virtual lesson subscription, Victoria Hasson is expanding her vision of what voice coaching can be. By combining expert instruction with a strong sense of community, she’s creating spaces where singers not only improve their craft but also build meaningful friendships and confidence. We caught up with Victoria to talk about embracing online teaching, the emotional side of coaching, and why helping students support one another is one of the most rewarding parts of her work.
Hi Victoria, thanks so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to have you share your thoughts and insights with our readers. Congratulations on the launch of Hasson Studios and your new weekly virtual lesson subscription! Can you take us back to the moment you realized it was time to rebrand and expand your teaching model? What inspired this new chapter?
I love my students and often try to connect them to each other if I believe they’ll be a good fit as co-writers or musical friends/connections. Group lessons really help students find more than just support from me and they encourage community growth. I also understand how lessons can be an investment and group options really help students who are struggling to afford the one-on-one lessons.
Teaching online has opened the door for students to learn in entirely new ways. Was there a particular student or experience that showed you how virtual lessons could create just as much connection, growth, and confidence as learning in person?
I used to think in-person was the only way to get a good voice lesson but since taking my first virtual lesson years ago, it really shifted my belief in the benefits of working with a coach online. You get the same instruction in addition to the convenience of being in your own, comfortable environment. Online lessons also help me teach students who don’t live in Los Angeles.
Launching a new brand and introducing a subscription-based community is a significant change. Can you share a behind-the-scenes story about the process whether it was exciting, challenging, or unexpectedly emotional that made this milestone especially meaningful?
I really just wanted to give people more options for how they can grow vocally and introduce them to a group setting that is supportive and motivating.
Every teacher has a moment that reminds them why they do what they do. Is there a lesson, breakthrough, or conversation with a student that has stayed with you because it perfectly captures the impact you hope Hasson Studios will have?
So many! I’ve joked about how teaching voice lessons is similar to being a therapist but there’s a lot of truth in that. Sometimes what’s holding a student back or giving them stage fright is a deeper emotional struggle that just exercises and repetition can’t fix. I enjoy the deeper side of learning to sing and feel honored to help my students grow as people as well as performers.
Rebranding often involves more than changing a name, it reflects personal growth as well. Looking back, how has your own journey as an artist and educator shaped the vision you have for Hasson Studios today, and what have you discovered about yourself along the way?
Using my last name instead of my first and middle has always felt more important to me for whatever reason. It’s a milestone for me to see my thriving coaching business as an official business and I’m proud of what I’ve built. I hope the name reflects the integrity I intend to continue upholding with my voice coaching.
As you build this new community through weekly group classes and drop-in lessons, what do you hope students will remember most about learning with you? Beyond developing their skills, what kind of confidence or joy do you hope they carry with them long after each class ends?
I’m so excited for the testimonials that will come out of this in relation to the students working alongside each other! It’s so helpful to feel connected to like-minded people when trying to grow in any area and I believe group lessons are a unique way to make friends and feel supported by peers.
