How Amy Beavington Is Creating a More Grounded, Inclusive Approach to Spirituality Through Community and Self-Discovery

For Amy Beavington, spirituality is less about having all the answers and more about helping people reconnect with themselves. Through The Modern Medium Co., she has built a welcoming community where intuition, healing, and personal growth can be explored without judgment, encouraging people of all beliefs to embrace curiosity, trust their own inner guidance, and find meaningful connection through shared experiences.

Amy, when you founded The Modern Medium Co., your goal was to make spirituality feel approachable and grounded. What inspired that vision, and how has it evolved over the past four years?
When I started The Modern Medium Co., I wasn’t trying to convince people that spirit exists—I was trying to create a space where people could explore their own experiences without feeling judged. For so long, spirituality was often presented as something either deeply religious or incredibly “out there.” I knew there was a middle ground.
My vision was to make conversations about intuition, energy, grief, consciousness, and spirit feel as normal as talking about mental health or physical wellness. I wanted people to realize they didn’t have to abandon logic to remain open-minded.

Over the last four years, that vision has grown far beyond mediumship. We’ve built a community that includes breathwork practitioners, astrologers, reiki therapists, meditation teachers, coaches, and so many incredible people helping others reconnect with themselves. It’s become less about proving spirituality and more about creating meaningful experiences that help people feel seen, supported, and connected.

You describe spirit communication as a relationship rather than a performance. How has that perspective shaped the way you work with clients and helped distinguish your approach from common perceptions of mediumship?
For me, spirit communication has never been about performing or impressing people. It’s a relationship—one built on trust, respect, and consistency. Just like any meaningful relationship, it develops over time.

That perspective changes everything. I don’t feel pressure to “prove” spirit. Instead, I focus on listening, interpreting, and communicating as clearly and honestly as I can. Sometimes the most meaningful messages are quiet, simple moments rather than dramatic revelations.

It also changes how I work with clients. Rather than creating dependence on me, my goal is to help people recognize that they already have intuition. They already receive nudges, feelings, dreams, and moments of knowing. If someone leaves a session feeling more connected to themselves than they were when they arrived, that’s success to me.

I think that’s one of the biggest misconceptions about mediumship—that it’s about the medium. In reality, it’s about facilitating a connection that belongs to the client.

Much of your work focuses on helping people trust their own intuition and connection to something greater. Why do you think so many people are seeking those deeper forms of connection right now?
I think we’re living in a time where people have access to more information than ever before, but many feel less connected than they ever have. We’re constantly looking outward—for answers, validation, and certainty—while quietly craving a deeper connection inward.

Whether someone believes in spirit, universal energy, God, or simply the wisdom of their own intuition, I think we’re all asking similar questions: Who am I? What matters? How do I find peace?

I’ve noticed people are becoming less interested in being told what to believe and more interested in discovering what feels true for themselves. That’s why I love teaching as much as I love reading. I don’t want people to simply believe me—I want them to build a relationship with their own intuition and experience.

Beyond private readings, you’ve expanded into community events that bring together mediums, astrologers, wellness practitioners, and curious newcomers. What have these larger gatherings taught you about the growing interest in spirituality and personal growth?
The biggest thing they’ve taught me is that people are craving community just as much as they’re craving healing.

When you put 100 or 200 people into a room who are open-minded, curious, and willing to have conversations about spirituality, something really beautiful happens. People realize they’re not alone. They discover that the questions they’ve been quietly carrying are often shared by everyone else in the room.

I also love that these events introduce people to many different approaches. Someone might come because they’re curious about mediumship but leave inspired by breathwork, astrology, meditation, or energy healing. My goal has never been to say there’s only one path. It’s to help people discover the practices and people that genuinely resonate with them.

Whether someone is deeply spiritual, skeptical, or simply curious, you aim to create a welcoming space for exploration. What do you hope people ultimately take away from their experience with The Modern Medium Co. and the work you do?
More than anything, I hope people leave feeling more connected to themselves.

If they become more present with their family, trust their intuition a little more, process their grief differently, feel inspired to meditate, or simply become more curious about life, then we’ve done something meaningful.

I don’t believe spirituality should create fear or dependency. I believe it should create freedom, empowerment, and a deeper appreciation for being human.

I welcome believers, skeptics, and everyone in between because curiosity is enough. You don’t have to have all the answers to begin exploring—you just have to be willing to ask the questions.
