From Supporting Local Boutiques to Building Brand Partnerships: Cinthia Jensen’s Creative Marketing Journey

For Cinthia Jensen, what began as a simple way to support local boutiques during the 2020 shutdown quickly grew into a dynamic career in content creation, influencer marketing, and social media strategy. By sharing authentic lifestyle content and helping small businesses modernize their online presence, Jensen discovered a passion that blended creativity with marketing. Today, she balances brand collaborations, content production, social media management, and modeling—working with companies such as TargetPatricia Nash DesignsThousand Fell, and Barefoot Dreams—while continuing to champion small businesses and build meaningful partnerships that connect brands with audiences in authentic ways.

Hi Cinthia, thank you so much for taking the time to share your journey with our readers — can you tell us how you first got started as an influencer and content creator, and how marketing naturally became a core part of what you do?
I started as an influencer and content creator in 2020 during the shutdown. Like many families, we suddenly found ourselves working from home with a toddler and a teenager, and life looked very different overnight. During that time, I began supporting local boutiques in my community by sharing their outfits on Instagram and tagging their businesses. It started very organically—just me wanting to help small businesses while also sharing my style and everyday life.

As I continued posting, I discovered platforms where I could curate shoppable products and earn commission from the items I shared. I applied, got accepted, and began integrating those links into my social media content. What started as something casual quickly became part of my daily routine.

Over time, my content evolved as I grew. I believe it’s important not to stay the same because content can become predictable or lose its spark. I’ve always focused on staying authentic while continuing to adapt, try new ideas, and keep my content fresh and engaging.

Through this journey, I discovered that marketing and content creation are truly a passion for me. It has been a life-changing experience because before this, I always thought my career path would only be in accounting. But I realized I also have a strong creative side—especially when it comes to photography, video creation, and lifestyle storytelling. Being able to combine creativity with marketing strategy is something I genuinely love doing.

You’ve built long-term partnerships with brands rather than one-off collaborations. What do you think helps turn a first collab into a lasting relationship?
Creating long-term partnerships with brands is very important to me. I focus on understanding each company’s guidelines, respecting their timelines, and delivering content that aligns with their brand while still staying true to my own voice and creativity.

Social media is always evolving, especially with algorithms and trends, so I make sure my content stays engaging and authentic while still meeting the goals of the brand. I believe the key is balancing creativity with strategy.

When companies continue to come back and collaborate with me again, it truly means a lot. To me, it shows that I’m building trust and delivering value. It tells me I’m doing something right—creating content that resonates with audiences and represents the brand well.

Those returning partnerships are very meaningful because they show that the relationship goes beyond a single campaign and becomes a true collaboration.

A big part of your work is supporting local small businesses through content creation and social media management. What does that process look like, and why is that work important to you?
Supporting and helping local businesses with content and social media management is something I really enjoy. Many small businesses are used to traditional marketing methods like mailed ads or city magazine placements, which can work for some audiences, but often they don’t capture the attention of people who spend most of their time online.

I like helping them rethink their approach by bringing fresh content ideas and showing how social media can create more direct engagement with their community. Sometimes businesses feel stuck in the same old-school marketing patterns, and that’s where I can step in with creative strategies—whether it’s photo content, short-form video, or storytelling that highlights their products and brand.

For me, it’s rewarding to help local businesses modernize their marketing and connect with customers in a way that feels authentic, engaging, and relevant today.

You balance several creative lanes — influencer marketing, content creation, social media management, and modeling. How do these different roles influence and strengthen each other?
Balancing influencer marketing, content creation, social media management, and modeling has opened many opportunities that I once thought were just dreams. My journey really started with influencer marketing, which naturally evolved into content creation. From there, I expanded into social media management, using the experience I gained from building my own platforms to help brands grow their online presence.

With that background and industry exposure, I was also able to reconnect with modeling, which has been an exciting part of my career again.

I’m very intentional about how I manage my time and the opportunities I accept. I try not to overload myself and instead focus on collaborations that align with my schedule and my values. When it comes to modeling, I usually choose projects that are meaningful, such as larger events or opportunities that help build strong portfolio content.

For me, it’s about maintaining balance while continuing to grow creatively and professionally across all these areas.

As you continue to grow your platform, what types of brands, projects, or opportunities are you most excited to align with next?
As I continue to grow in this industry, I’m excited about expanding my partnerships and creative opportunities. I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with well-known brands like Target, Patricia Nash Designs, Thousand Fell, and Barefoot Dreams, and experiences like these have shown me how powerful authentic content and strong brand relationships can be.

I’m always open to building new partnerships and supporting businesses that need help growing their presence. I can contribute in several ways—creating high-quality content, producing product photoshoots with my professional Canon camera, assisting with social media marketing and management, modeling for campaigns, or even participating in runway events.

My goal is to bring creativity, professionalism, and authenticity to every collaboration while helping brands connect with their audience in a meaningful way.
