Meet West Hollywood Photographer and Actor: Carson Nicely

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carson Nicely.

Carson, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Hey there! I started my career in entertainment when I was 18 and in college working in the A&F Stores as the shirtless greeter. From there, ended up getting scouted by the marketing team when they did a store visit to the Orlando mall and ended up in 3 campaigns for A&F.

After that, I continued to model for a number of years signing with agencies in Nashville, Atlanta, Dallas, Miami-Chicago, and Los Angeles. I quickly grew tired of just modeling and started acting in a few music videos. I LOVED doing these music videos. You would film for 18 hours and create an entire story in one day! Apparently, I did an alright job, as I’ve been the male lead in over 15 music videos (mostly country) . Once I started “acting” in these music videos, I quickly found that passion and began my acting career, which is what I am currently doing in Los Angeles, CA as my day job besides acting.

Alongside all the acting and modeling – I found a passion for photography as well. It started out as a way send digitals to agencies and tape auditions, but I found myself really enjoying the process of meeting other models and actors this way, and using that platform to hear about their stories. Today I run a production company ( ) that focuses on corporate video as well as photography needs for actors and models (Headshots, Fashion, Commercial). Also the drone videos I create have been getting quite a buzz lately as well! I absolutely love what I do – and it’s all revolving around the entertainment industry!

Has it been a smooth road?
It’s never a smooth road. If anyone tells you it is, they’re probably lying or trying to make themselves feel better. Almost every day I hear from a different agency or manager that the photos aren’t exactly what they want. Then the same day, I’ll send the same photos to a different agency and they absolutely love them and want me to shoot their entire roster. At the end of the day, photography is an art, and people have their own perception of it. I can only keep doing what I’ve been doing and hope people enjoy it!

What are some of the influences that have played the biggest role in your journey so far?
I started photography without going to school and taking classes, so everything was hard for me to learn at first. Luckily, YouTube is such an incredible tool for learning new hobbies that I glued myself to my monitor for the first year I had a camera. There are so many amazing tutorials from setting up the camera to shooting to editing and all the way through, that it helped me create my own style and get comfortable shooting on my own. Without YouTube and the various channels I watched (Phlearn was by far one of the best), I absolutely wouldn’t have gotten to where I am!

Do you have a favorite type of client or project?
I have an upcoming shoot with an amazing suit line named Suitivo. They’re based out of West Hollywood, and we’re putting the shoot together for them right now. It’s going to involve 5-6 models, classic cars, drone work, commercial photography work and a fashion video all over two days. This material will be featured as the main cover material for their website. I couldn’t be more excited for this!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I probably wouldn’t change anything, because all of the experiences I’ve had so far has helped me grow as a person. I absolutely love it!
