Meet Wendy Both of Reiki Heals in Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Wendy Both.

Wendy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was raised in a small town in Holland, to an Indonesian/Indian father and a Dutch mother. I moved to Miami when I was only 16 after making it to the finals on a televised National Modeling Competition to pursue a modeling career. I am fortunate to have worked with many top photographers such as Patrick Demarchelier, Steven Meisel, and Fabrizio Gianni and have appeared in Campaigns such as Guess, Victoria Secret, and Corneliani and have been on the covers of Magazines all over the world. After living in Miami, my modeling career took me to New York and eventually landed me in Los Angeles, which I now call home with my sweet daughter.

I discovered Reiki through a conversation with a total stranger at a metaphysical store. I had never heard of Reiki before but when she explained the healing benefits of this vibrational energy, it immediately resonated with me. I decided to explore my interest further through a formal Reiki Training. It wasn’t long before I realized this is what I was meant to do; to help people and animals experience balance and wholeness.

I have always been interested in natural healing techniques and grew up learning about Psychic Abilities and Mediumship through my Indonesian grandmother. As I became more immersed in the world of energy, healing my own abilities of medium-ship and animal communication surfaced.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I started modeling when I was 16 years old. I loved modeling but travel, living in hotels, eating often whatever was available, made it hard for me to stay at the desired model weight. I remember being called in one day by a client who had booked me for a job to do a fitting for her. She had seen me walk on the beach in a bathing suit and suspected I had gained a little weight. I can still recall the feeling I had trying on clothes that were too tight. That experience made me feel incredibly insecure and bad about my body. I became an expert in how to dress myself hiding what the industry saw as flaws and tried out many diets to lose weight. It has taken me many years to shift my perspective and realize the only validation I need is from me. Having gone through my own journey, I feel blessed to be able to help others with their body image challenges. Thankfully the fashion industry is changing by adapting to real life models in different sizes, shapes, and ages. While runways were once decorated with super skinny models, now we are starting to see many different body types and ages appear all over the fashion industry.

Throughout my modeling career, I traveled all over the world and got the opportunity to experience many different cultures, people and their struggles. My empathic gift guided me towards people and situations where help was needed. I am so grateful to continue pursuing both professions. I love seamlessly flowing from one to another, keeps things exciting and giving me a chance to explore myself in so many different realms and from so many different angles.

Please tell us about Reiki Heals.
I am a Reiki Master, Intuitive Guide, Medium and certified in CBT.

Reiki is one of the oldest energy healing systems with its roots in Japanese origin often used as a complement to conventional therapies in many hospitals. The universe is based on the interaction between positive and negative ions. The disruption of the flow of energy between the two is what creates conflict. My job is to clear up this conflict which can greatly reduce stress and create a feeling of inner peace and harmony so the body’s natural healing abilities can improve and maintain health.

As an intuitive guide, I use my psychic-intuition to see, hear and feel information to answer my client’s questions and concerns. In addition, I also communicate with the afterlife as a medium to help clients reconnect with a loved one who has passed on.

CBT, or cognitive behavioral therapy, is a technique that can help people find new ways to behave by shifting their thought patterns. I guide them in healing old mental and emotional wounds that keep them stuck.

I work with people and often their animals. A client will hire me to help them, but once I get there, their pet becomes the priority and visa versa. Animals, like people, can also benefit from my healing abilities. Reiki can be given to any animal under virtually any circumstances, due to the fact you don’t have to put your hands on the animal. I have treated fearful, wild or dangerous animals that could normally not be approached. With my intuitive guidance abilities, I help to give the animals a voice; allowing the owners a unique opportunity to connect and learn about their pet on a deeper level. They will receive answers to questions such as what makes them happy, scared, or excited. This can be especially helpful when the pet has been rescued. Knowing what has happened in their past can be exceptionally helpful to new owners.

What sets you apart?
It is the combination of my psychic-intuitive abilities, mediumship, Reiki and CBT training that sets me apart and helps me to heal my clients on all levels; physical, mental, emotional and spiritual and giving them the tools cultivate a healthy lifestyle.

I recently performed a divorce ceremony followed by a Reiki session for a client couple who wished for their parting to be an act of love. It was an absolute honor and so very touching and beautiful. Now in new relationships, I am thrilled to work with all of them. One of the new formed couples has just asked me to perform their wedding ceremony. This is why I love what I do. I am so grateful to be allowed in and be part of people’s lives; to be able to make a small difference.

What role has luck played in your life and business?
As Martin Seligman, the founder of positive psychology once wrote, “Optimists endure the same storms in life as pessimists. But they weather them better and emerge from them better off.” Part of the work I do that I love so much is to help people shift their mindset, to let go of their old programs, to go from a victim mindset to a hero mindset! By helping people and animals, one by one to live a happier and healthier life, I hope to create a positive change that causes a rippling effect and leaves the universe a more positive place….and for that, I feel lucky!!!
