Meet Sonia Lee in West Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonia Lee.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I studied art and fashion in Korea. One of my teachers suggested I transition into makeup as I had an eye for beauty. I then attended the best makeup school in Korea. Due to my skills, Amore and Judanhak are the two companies that influenced me to come to Los Angeles more study beauty. I was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. I believe that to be beautiful is to love one self and feel confident. I am a professional makeup artist and men’s groomer. I am grateful I met my agents at Exclusive Artists (Darin, Claire, Andy, Allie, Matt, Kim)…. with Exclusive Artists Management. I work extremely hard and my team works just as hard to get me where I am today.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I had poor English no one could understand me at the beginning. Basically I did not know much when I started. I had no idea how to start the journey. I had no support…that is the way to start… learning who is out there. For anyone who is trying to start their career – just do it and do more and do not to give up …that was what I told myself when I felt lost. Meeting everyone was a gift to me…I felt like everyone I met was there to teach me something. When I get up in the mornings, I check in with myself and tune into how I am feeling. I always respect others and see how I can learn from myself and others. I struggled everyday wondering how I can produce better work but working with others who inspired me motivated me. It was almost as if they stretched my own abilities I didn’t know could be stretched further. Stretching my abilities was stretching my mind and strengthening it. I try to not compare myself to others because I’d rather focus on my own work and learn how to perfect my craft.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Celebrity Men’s Groomer and Makeup Artist represented by Exclusive Artists Management – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am a celebrity men’s groomer + hairstylist + makeup artist represented by @exclusiveartists www.eamgmt.com / sonialeegrooming @sonialeeartisry

I do glam/grooming for red carpet and special appearances for my clients . Most of the time I do work alone and because of that I don’t really get the chance to compare myself to others. What I do differently is I prepare deep Korean meditation to calm their breathing if my clients accept what I am practicing… Korean meditation.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
Where I am now! I believe that we are here to grow together, with each other. I really want to help save the Earth and humanity in some way. The Korean meditation teacher I study under his name is Ilchi Lee, and I really admire the work he’s doing and I want to do something similar. He brought a holistic brain-based education method called Brain Education to kids in El Salvador who are growing up in an area with the worst crime and violence. By helping the students and teachers connect to their minds and bodies, he’s bringing peace to their community in a big and impacting way. He’s even getting an official recognition award by the President of El Salvador in September for the work he’s doing! I want to help people like that, and I believe practicing meditation and mindfulness is essential for everyone.
