Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Bertagna and Lisa Ballstaedt.
Kayla and Lisa, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started when we had a Korean skincare night on a girls trip to Puerto Vallarta. We were excited to try the masks, but… well, they weren’t great. The masks didn’t have clear directions, they didn’t fit well, and we really didn’t know what we were putting on our faces.
We knew we could do better, so we set out to create something revolutionary. After hours of measuring each other’s faces, countless trips to Korea to meet with skincare chemists, and dozens of nights testing products, we’re proud to announce we’ve created the most innovative sheet masks on the market.
That’s a big statement, but we mean it.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We went into creating this company knowing that there would definitely be ups and downs all throughout this process. We’ve dealt with things taking much longer than expected, samples not turning out how we hoped, and being a company owned and run by two women— sometimes people underestimate us. We have big plans for Soon Skincare though so when things don’t go as planned, we reflect and figure out what we can learn from it and move forward from there. Also, we are big on helping others who reach out that are building their own businesses, especially other women! We are all in this together, and we can all help each other succeed.

We love the podcast How I Built This! Hearing about other business owners’ journeys in creating their companies is so relatable and inspiring. We also have spent so much time online and watching youtube videos trying to figure out how to do things on our own that we have been quoted ridiculous prices for.
