Hi Celebrity Therapist Jeff Rocker, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a teenager growing up in North Miami Beach, FL, I realized how much of a need there was for a Black Male Therapist. In my community, people were struggling with many issues that they did not feel comfortable sharing due to the stigma of therapy. At that point, I decided that something needed to be done in a way that can change the world’s perspective on therapy. Surprisingly, that something was using different platforms to provide my professional expertise about mental health issues that are common in the lives of everyday people. So, I created a Mental Health Concierge Service that provides mental health awareness and tips to overcome mental health issues all across the country. With a high percentage of my clientele being high profile clients and my willingness to speak on national platforms about mental health has given me the notary in this industry as Celebrity Therapist Jeff Rocker.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Smooth road????? Not at all. As a young entrepreneur in the field of psychology, there are many barriers that you must learn to overcome, such as the stigma of therapy, the lack of education in schools for upcoming clinicians on how to build their own private practice, and a shortage of diverse representation of mental health professionals on a national platform. These issues play a major role in why many people shy away from entering the field. So, I have taken upon myself to educate and train therapists worldwide that you do not have to fall victim to the negative stereotypes associated with being a therapist. I want to show the world that there are cool and down to earth therapists, that can make a lot of money in this field, and most importantly, are diverse in their ethnicity, culture and therapeutic approaches.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have been nationally recognized for my innovative techniques and approaches towards troubled teens, interpersonal relationship partner conflicts and professionals struggling with work-life balance. Also, I worked with clients with debilitating addiction issues as I offer in-home therapeutic services. With years of experience working with clients going through individual, relationship, and family issues, I have provided therapeutic services to clients from as young as three years old to individuals in their late adulthood. Over the years, I have organized lectures and various events in the community, including excursions and retreats for couples to improve their communication and gain a better understanding of each other. I have many years of experience working with athletes such as those in the NFL, NBA, and MLB as well as clients in the Movie, Music, and Entertainment Industry.
As the CEO of How We See It, Inc. I have established a team of diverse individuals that are changing the world’s perspective on mental health one community at a time. My team does multiple outreach programs for these communities to help dispel the myths of therapy and remove the stigma around mental health. One of the outreach programs that I have created is called Hip Hop Therapy. This is an interactive workshop done in high schools and colleges all across the country. My goal is for students to have a safe space to express themselves in an unconventional manner. Growing up with a musical background, this program is one that truly resonates with me on a personal level.
