Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Alvarado.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Angela. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Born and raised in Pasadena, CA. As a young girl, I was always experimenting with my own hair and makeup, I found it fascinating.
I have a father who is a known artist, so creativity runs in my blood. I always knew I wanted to work for myself one day.
So after finishing a year of college, I knew it wasn’t really for me, so I started working as a receptionist. After a few years of doing that, I realized I wasn’t happy so I enrolled into cosmetology school and that was the BEST decision I have ever made.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When I finished cosmetology school, I worked as an assistant at a salon in Pasadena for two years. Then I moved on and started working at a salon in West Hollywood as a commission stylist.
Where I learned so many tricks of the trade, I came back to Pasadena worked as a commission stylist to build up my clientele. After building a strong clientele base. I moved on to being a booth renter/ independent stylist and Manager at Scizzor Group in Old Town Pasadena.
Please tell us about Scizzor Group.
Scizzor Group is a small boutique salon located in Old Town Pasadena. Where I’m a manager and a stylist of a four station salon. I specialize in men’s, woman’s, children haircuts, balayage, color, keratin treatments, and special event styling such as photo shoots, proms and weddings.
Scizzor Group is a Group of 8 different salons all located in the San Gabriel Valley.
All of our locations are unique in their design and features, all adding to your expectations of an incredible service that a leading salon should provide. We want you to feel the confidence and skills of the designers that represent the Scizzor Group. Where we have some of the best stylists in town.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have started cosmetology school right after high school.
