Meet Russell Young

Today we’d like to introduce you to Russell Young.

British-American Pop artist Russell Young is best known for compelling, larger-than-life silkscreen paintings appropriated from recent history and popular culture. Alluding to the great Pop artists of past and present, he reinvents bold, sometimes brutal imagery turned upon itself in alienation and entrapment while bearing witness to the ambition and glamorous excesses of 21st-century America.

Please tell us about your art.
I am fortunate that I am able to create over a wide range of mediums, action painting, abstract painting, print making, sculpture, film, and sound. I am best known for my larger than life large diamond dust screen prints of icons like Marilyn, Bardot, and Kate Moss.

Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
I stopped looking listening or reading any news eight months ago, I’m a far happier and creative person for it.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
In Los Angeles I and represented by Art Angeles, the gallery has offered me as an artist tremendous support and encouragement. Art Angels Gallery, 9020 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90048
