Community Highlights: Meet Will Gill of DJ Will Gill (djwillgill.com)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Will Gill.

Hi Will, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story starts in a library. I was the kid hacking the library computers, and instead of that ending badly, it turned into an IT apprenticeship. That was the first time I learned the lesson my whole career sits on: curiosity opens doors that credentials can’t.

VoyageLA actually caught me once before, back in 2023, right as I was coming out of the virtual events era. Since then the ride has gotten wilder. I’ve now performed at three Super Bowls, a World Cup, a Formula 1 race, and not host for the Jacksonville Jaguars. I’ve been featured in The Wall Street Journal, named to the Forbes Next 1000, and collected more than 2,520 five-star Google reviews doing events for companies like Google, Amazon, Salesforce, the United Nations, Hilton, and Ulta Beauty.

But the biggest change isn’t the stages. It’s that I stopped thinking of myself as just a DJ. Today the work is a 3-in-1: DJ, emcee, and a one-man team-building show built to boost morale and get an entire room participating. And in 2026 I’m launching two things I’ve never been more excited about: a keynote called The Moralegorithm, and an AI playlist app called AIDJ that’s patent pending. The kid from the library is still in there. He just has better speakers now.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth? Never. The challenge nobody warns you about is reinvention. During the pandemic I became known worldwide as “the virtual events guy.” That label saved my business in 2020 and then nearly boxed me in. When the world went back to ballrooms, I had to rebuild my live reputation almost from scratch, one stage at a time, while everyone’s first question was still “so, do you do Zoom parties?” Getting from there to Super Bowls and Formula 1 took years of saying yes to rooms that were too big for me and growing to fit them.

The other honest struggle is being a one-man show in both senses. I perform solo, and I run the business solo. Every contract, every playlist, every invoice. Learning to build systems instead of just grinding harder has been the quiet battle of the last two years.

As you know, we’re big fans of DJ Will Gill (djwillgill.com). For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m a corporate emcee and audience engagement specialist. The easiest way to explain it: companies don’t hire me to play songs, they hire me to change the energy in a room. One person, three jobs. I DJ, I emcee, and I run interactive team-building experiences that get the VP of Finance dancing next to the summer intern. Morale is the product. Music is just how I deliver it.

What sets me apart is that I treat a corporate event like a live show, not a background service. I study the company before I walk in. I learn names. I build moments where people participate instead of watch. That’s why the reviews number keeps climbing: 2,520+ five-star Google reviews, most of them describing the same thing, which is a room that didn’t expect to have that much fun.

What am I most proud of right now? Two things I’m building. The Moralegorithm is my keynote: three algorithms for boosting morale and tapping into your own star power, drawn from everything the stage has taught me. And AIDJ (theaidj.com) is my patent-pending app that turns a plain-English request into a ready-to-play playlist you can preview and export to Spotify. One is me teaching what I know. The other is me coding what I know. Both feel like that library kid coming full circle.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Google. My self made SEO and AEO in search results has brought me 99% of my gigs.

Professionally, two people are shaping this current chapter. Anthony Blair coaches my keynote work every week and has a gift for finding the truth hiding inside a story. Seth Deckman of The Keynote Curators believed I belonged on speaking stages before I had a polished talk to prove it.

And honestly, my clients deserve credit. The planners who rebook me year after year built this business one recommendation at a time. A DJ is only as good as the rooms people keep inviting him back into.
