Today we’d like to introduce you to Anastasia Koklamanis.
Anastasia, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My dream as a little girl was to work in a bank in a high rise building downtown Chicago, I loved numbers… I thought I was working my dream job until 19 years ago, a cousin of mine who owned her own hair salon wanted to expand and I was helping her with the numbers for the loan and me loving the numbers, I was shocked to see how high these numbers were, I said what so many people say… lol! “you make this much just doing hair”! She then started to explain all the good that comes with doing hair, my daughters were little at the time and she painted this perfect picture for me to be able to have more time with my daughters, that sold me and of course those numbers.. lol!
She next guided me in the right direction with what school and so forth… I quit my banking job and had the full support of family and started beauty school, I knew this was my calling. The first day, I was on the clinic floor, I colored my first clients hair and when I finished, she cried tears of happiness, she said I brought back her confidence, that was gone for years… that was the moment, I knew this was my calling, I couldn’t believe I would have this much impact on people’s lives, doing hair since then it has become my passion, I knew it would only be a matter of time that I would own my own salon to be able to help others learn and grow in our beautiful industry, when my daughters were settled in their own careers, I started Anastaisa K salon in Temecula, CA and wanted to get some of my city living back. I expanded to West Hollywood, CA happy to say… having the best time doing what I love to do!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being able to multi-task, raising children and building your brand.
Being strong in all the main areas of hairdressing – technical, creative, social.
Anastasia K Salon – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I specialize in color and hair extensions.
I’m known for taking big transformations of clients that were always told their hair could never get as light as they always wanted, blondes are my specialty.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment, having my own product, a purple shampoo called blonde juice for all my blondes.
