Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffrey Ringer.
Jeffrey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been a commercial photographer for over 30 years. I began studying photography, film and video production and evolved into full marketing and advertising. My true photographic passions are in photographing people and scenics. I published my first book in 2013 and am currently working on my second. Today, I enjoy getting to know people I photograph and making the images that show the personality and passion of the people I photograph. The scenics I take are taken from all different perspectives and are often about the lighting angles, textures and capturing the unique beauty of the environment.
Has it been a smooth road?
Being a photographer has had its ups and downs over 30 years. Technology has certainly changed the scope of the industry. When I originally studied photography, we didn’t have digital cameras, digital retouching, and color correction as we do now. We had to shoot for the shot and not plan to have all types of post production of the images. Today, we have the luxury of the amazing tools. I still prefer to shoot for the original shot and sometimes enhance with the technology if needed. I choose not to make the technology my work.
Have you ever wanted to stop doing what you do and just start over?
I have had many ups and downs, I diverted my efforts in my business and caused myself my own difficulties by not focusing on my core business. I am a creative person and always want to create or develop something new. This desire to do something new has resulted in some great successes and failures. There were definitely times where I just wanted to quit and run away. It is hard to give up the passion and the ability to share our talents. All of these are just great lessons in life about following my passion. My passion is my photography and creativity. I love to make a difference with the work I create.
Let’s change gears – is there any advice you’d like to give?
Believe in yourself. Know there is room for everyone and there are no two people who are alike. We are all here for a purpose. Your purpose will become more evident as you pursue your passions. There will be people along the way who will try to steer you along another path. Follow your passion and truth and you will find your way.
What are you looking forward to?
I am most excited about my ability to help people find and pursue their purpose. I have been helping people open up and love who they are in front of the camera and into love all they are in their heart. My next book is my self-exploration where I did the same thing. After doing this with my own journey, I have learned to help others in the same way.
