Meet Jenny Rizzuto of Chloe Colette in Downtown LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Rizzuto.

Jenny, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I had always loved clothes and fashion my whole life. I would always redo my Friend’s closets and dress them and their moms for all occasions just for fun. In 2002, I was attending college and one of my moms clients, my mother was an interior designer, asked her how she always looks so great. My mother replied with “well my daughter dresses me” her client said wow well I would love for her to dress me and make me look so amazing! That’s where it all began. I shopped for that very first client because she was going on a trip to Paris and London for two weeks and wanted an outfit for every single day and night. I selected 42 pieces for her, she kept 40 of them and she still a client to this day. From there, she told her friends and her friends and my business mushroomed. I then worked for a company called global image group based out of Miami For a couple of years. I traveled all over the country dressing mainly business professionals.

Then I decided I wanted to start my own business in Houston focused more on women which was where my true passion was. I moved back to Houston in 2007 and started to promote myself as a personal wardrobe stylist. I got lucky enough to meet my one client who is was a socialite at the time and from there, my business really took off in a higher league. Over the 18 years of being a stylist, it was always very difficult for me to find pieces of clothing for my clients that were pretty and elegant but were still comfortable like workout wear. They were always in need of outfits to wear for the weekend, for travel or after work that looked elegant and polished but were still comfortable enough. From there, I discovered the need for a line of clothing that was made of luxurious, soft fabrics in pretty silhouettes for those occasions. I created Chloe Colette – a well-curated line of women’s clothing that is versatile enough to wear day to night whether you’re traveling or going to grab lunch at a café with a friend. I’ve essentially created a line that is already styled combinations that you can make your own with accessories. The pieces are made from mostly knits and silk at an affordable price.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When I first started styling in 2002, this was something very new to the industry. Not many people had a stylist for their everyday life you would either have been a celebrity or something of the sort. Therefore I had to figure out all the different aspects of making styling a business as I gained more clients. I took my ability to Dress women and made a career out of it. As far as becoming a fashion designer, I had to do the same thing. I had never intended on becoming a designer like many girls do growing up, I actually always dreamt of being a ballet dancer LOL I have literally taught myself along the way! I feel as though I have acquired an MBA for fashion design over the past year! The biggest struggle has been perfecting every single pattern and silhouette. I am such a perfectionist and I want everything to come out exactly as I have envisioned in my mind. For example, I wanted a fabric that was luxurious and would remain flawless over the years but also hid imperfections. So I created my own fabric! Every single stitch of a garment can change the entire look of it. I went through dozens of samples till I achieved the exact outcome I felt was worthy 🙂

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Chloe Colette – what should we know?
Having been a wardrobe stylist for so many years, I have dressed hundreds of women. All different sizes and ages. Having done this has allowed me to obtain the skill set to know what most women want out of their clothing. With Chloe Colette, I have created a line of clothing that is extremely flattering to a woman’s body. The fabric is capable of hiding any imperfections and the seaming and silhouettes make all sizes look great! All of the pieces are carefully constructed to allow a woman to feel and look her best. My clients have known me to be extremely particular and not stop until the outfit is absolutely perfect. I definitely continued with this mindset for Chloe Colette. With this line, you can be as comfortable as you would be in workout clothes but still look polished and elegant. It’s perfect for travel, weekend wear or out on the town.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I definitely feel that the most important characteristic to both wardrobe styling and creating Chloe Colette is my true passion for helping women feel beautiful! There is nothing better than putting an outfit on a woman having her look in the mirror and feel absolutely stunning. I genuinely care about having the ability to brighten a woman’s outlook on life by putting her in something fabulous!
