Meet Erin Hansen of Erin Hansen Events & Designs in South Bay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Hansen.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Erin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been planning and designing events for over 11 years now. It all started by helping friends and family plan, design, and do calligraphy for their weddings and events. My business truly started through word of mouth. Soon, I was getting referred by friends of friends and family to help others with their weddings and celebrations. As a teacher and learner, I dove into learning as much as I could about interior design, wedding trends, venue and space layout, branding, professional wedding planning organizations, and event conferences. I decided in 2014 to launch and brand Erin Hansen Events & Designs and go full force into wedding and event design and planning! I have been featured in both national and international wedding blogs and websites, have participated in design challenges, and am recognized in the wedding industry for my keen attention to detail. We now have a fantastic team and are in the process of launching an offshoot of our company, which will specialize in day of coordination only. I am a planner by nature, enjoy seeing people smile, and love seeing the overall design vision come to life – so it works! I am so grateful to be able to do what I love.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, it’s been what I have anticipated it to be. I knew that the transition would be interesting, and it has been. The main obstacles are time and distance. With regards to wedding planning, there are so many amazing venues out there – it’s difficult to get to all of them and the time to network amidst planning events is the hard part!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Erin Hansen Events & Designs – what should we know?
We are so different than the traditional wedding planners/event coordinators (just ask our past clients). Most planners will have a checklist when you call them for a consultation-they ask you things like: how many bridesmaids, bouquets, guests, vendors, etc. They will tell you that they will only contact the vendors on their preferred list and they might charge extra to contact the vendors the clients provide. We pride ourselves on creating a relationship with our clients. We end up being like family – I’m still friends with many of our past clients! It’s so special to be a part of their most important day and the best part is getting to know our clients, their families, and how we can help make their dream come true! We also specialize in design from start to finish – this means that we have a conversation about what is most important to the client about their event and what look and feel they want, we create a design board (as an interior designer might do) and we make it happen within their budget! Our “Decked and Dolled” offshoot is going to give the couple on a budget someone to help the day of – so they don’t have to worry about calling on their friends and family. Their friends and family, after all, should be the ones celebrating as well!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
What you put out into the universe, you will get. It’s 100% true. I believe in visualization of success and what I want. It’s not always easy to visualize the right thing – but the things I create in my head do come to be (and I am grateful for that). The goal is to keep remembering my why and “our why” as a company- which is to inspire others with our unique design, take the stress out of planning a memorable event, and create lasting relationships with our clients!
