We recently had the chance to connect with Victoria Mehrnia and have shared our conversation below.
Victoria, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One of the biggest misconceptions I see, especially among Millennials and Gen Z, is the belief that homeownership is out of reach. Many assume they need 20% down or that the barriers to entry are too high, but that is simply not the case in todays market. There are a wide range of first time home buyer programs, down payment assistance options, and creative lending solutions that make owning a home far more accessible than most people realize.
Another misunderstanding is how much long term value homeownership can create. While renting offers flexibility, the benefits of owning often outweigh the cost over time. You are building equity, gaining stability, and investing in your financial future instead of paying toward someone else. A big part of my role is educating clients on what is actually possible and helping them see that with the right guidance homeownership can be an achievable, not an unattainable dream.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Victoria Mehrnia, a Los Angeles based real estate agent with Highland Premiere, focusing on Playa Vista and the Westside. I love what I do because it brings together my passion for community, design, and helping people through some of the biggest transitions of their lives. I moved to Los Angeles without a built in network, so I built my business from the ground up by showing up consistently, forming real relationships, and becoming deeply involved in the neighborhoods I serve.
What makes my approach unique is that I do not see real estate as only buying or selling a home. I see it as a full lifestyle experience. I am always creating resources that make moving and living in Los Angeles easier, including neighborhood guides, market updates, community events, and even a local hat brand called Playa Vista Beach Club that has created a fun and unexpected following. I also work closely with physicians who relocate to Los Angeles, a niche that grew naturally from my own experience as the wife of a physician who has moved many times for his career. I understand the stress of starting over in a new city and I enjoy guiding families through that process with confidence and care.
Right now I am focused on expanding my marketing efforts and continuing to deepen my presence in Playa Vista. I am committed to being a trusted neighbor first and an agent second. Whether I am hosting a community event, helping a first time buyer navigate the mortgage process, or assisting a longtime owner with a luxury sale, my goal remains the same. I show up with integrity, local expertise, and a genuine love for the community I call home.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
The people who taught me the most about work are my parents. My mom was a school teacher and she showed me the value of patience, consistency, and what it looks like to truly care for the people you serve. My dad spent years working for a nonprofit organization, and he always emphasized the importance of giving back and making sure that your work has meaning beyond a paycheck.
Their example shaped the way I approach my business today. They taught me to lead with purpose, stay grounded in service, and always keep people at the center of everything I do.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
If I could say one thing to my younger self, it would be to worry less about what other people think. You do not need to follow the same timeline as everyone around you and you do not need to stay in one place out of fear of starting over. Move away. Try new things. Explore what feels right for you, even if it does not make sense to anyone else at the time.
The decision to leave home is not a permanent one. You can always return, but taking that step will push you to grow in ways you would never experience if you stayed where everything felt familiar. Living somewhere new will challenge you, build your independence, and show you what you are capable of. I would tell my younger self that the discomfort will eventually turn into strength, and that trusting your own direction is one of the best choices you can make.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies in real estate is that the work looks like what you see on television. It is rarely as polished or effortless as it seems. Real estate is negotiating between emotional sellers and buyers, answering your phone at odd hours, solving problems on the fly, and carrying the weight of decisions that matter a great deal to the people you represent. The job is meaningful, but it is not glamorous. The real work is steady and detailed, and it depends on trust that is earned over time through consistent follow through.
There is also a belief that the biggest teams or the most recognizable brands automatically offer the best service. In reality, clients care more about personal attention and local expertise. People choose someone who knows the neighborhood, communicates clearly, and shows up. That is usually what creates the strongest results.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am in Minnesota spending time on the lakes with my friends and family. Being on the water has a way of slowing everything down. A quiet boat ride, fresh air, and time away from my phone give me space to reset.
