Suzanne Allison shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Suzanne , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Zumba classes.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I think what makes my job unique is, that I get to pull animals that are at risk of being euthanized from the shelter and finding them forever, loving homes. The process can be grueling but it’s also very rewarding. The main goal is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome dogs and cats that have been relinquished to the shelter for various reasons. Pet Orphans mission is to find loving homes for each and every pet we get into our rescue
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband said… “one day you will run a pet rescue because you love animals so much. He was right. I just sorta found my calling.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes there’s always doubt and bad days but it thankfully doesn’t outweigh the good that I’ve experienced.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
My wonderful executive director. Her name is LaTanya Montgomery and she has been by my side for many years, guiding my decisions in the business
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
That the pet rescue business is very hard but rewarding. It has good days and bad days. But knowing you are helping these precious animals, it’s all worth it
