Susan Sangani of Palmdale, CA on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Susan Sangani . Check out our conversation below.

Susan, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, I’ve been having a lot of fun experimenting with new coffee drinks at home. I’ve been trying out different brewing methods, flavor combinations, and seasonal ingredients. It’s such a relaxing and creative outlet, and there’s nothing better than sharing a new drink with friends and family to get their feedback!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Susan and by day I’m a Director of Patient Access, managing the revenue cycle side of things in the healthcare world. I love what I do, making sure patients have a smooth experience while keeping everything running efficiently behind the scenes.

But outside of that, you’ll usually find me surrounded by the smell of espresso. During COVID, I started visiting coffee shops as a way to get out, try new things, and connect with people (safely of course!). That little routine turned into a full-blown passion, and before I knew it, I had launched my own small coffee business.

Now I bottle specialty lattes that I craft myself and even create mini coffee setups for events. What started as a fun side hobby has grown into something that combines creativity, community, and convenience (three things I’m all about).

It’s been amazing to see how something as simple as a love for coffee has opened so many doors and brought joy to others along the way.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Definitely my husband. He’s been my biggest supporter and constant reminder to believe in myself. Through every challenge and new adventure, he’s encouraged me to take risks, stay grounded, and see my own strength, and that’s really shaped how I view myself today.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
One fear that’s definitely held me back at times is the fear of failing, especially when it came to starting my coffee business. I worried about not making enough money or that it wouldn’t take off the way I hoped. But over time, I’ve learned that money comes and goes, and it shouldn’t be the source of happiness or validation. What really matters is doing something that brings me joy and allows me to share that joy with others, and for me, that’s coffee.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
I’d like to think so, yes. The version of me that people see is genuine. I try to lead with kindness and stay true to my values. I’m not perfect, but I always come from a good place and do my best to approach everything with a good heart.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had 10 years left, I’d stop second-guessing myself. I’d stop letting fear or perfectionism hold me back and focus more on being present, which is doing the things I love, spending time with the people who matter most, and pouring my energy into what truly brings me joy.
