Story & Lesson Highlights with Uday Singh of Pico Rivera

We recently had the chance to connect with Uday Singh and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Uday, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for Uday Singh right now is full of giggles, curiosity, and discovery. As a 1-year-old, he starts his mornings with bright eyes and boundless energy. After a warm cuddle session, he enjoys his breakfast and then jumps into playtime—whether it’s flipping through picture books, stacking blocks, or dancing to music (he loves a good beat!).

His afternoons are often filled with mini adventures—trips to the park, practicing his runway walk (yes, even at this age!), or joining us at events and community outings. As Mr. Baby California 2025, Uday is already getting used to flashing lights, cameras, and lots of smiles. He’s also featured in fashion shows and magazines, so we mix a little “star life” with nap time.

Evenings are wind-down time with family, where he enjoys a bath, bedtime story, and soft music before dozing off—recharging for another big day ahead. Every day with Uday is joyful, unpredictable, and inspiring

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Uday Singh, and I’m proud to be Mr. Baby California 2025! At just one year old, I’ve had the honor of being recognized not only for my charm and confidence but also as the first Sikh baby to earn this prestigious title. I’ve been featured in fashion shows, walked the runway as a VIP lead model, and appeared in national publications like Kids Multicultural World Magazine and World Class Kings Magazine.

What makes my journey special is that it’s more than just cute photos and crowns—it’s about representation, culture, and celebrating diversity from a young age. I come from a proud Punjabi Sikh family based in California, and with the support of my parents, I’m already embracing opportunities that allow me to shine while honoring my roots.

Right now, I’m working on building my modeling and brand ambassador journey, attending community events, and bringing smiles to people’s faces. Whether it’s through fashion, culture, or spreading joy, I’m just getting started!

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Before Uday could even walk, there were people who saw something extraordinary in him—his energy, presence, and spark. But as his mother, I was the very first to see him clearly. From the moment he opened his eyes, I knew he was born to shine.

I didn’t just see a baby—I saw confidence, curiosity, and strength wrapped in innocence. I saw a future where his Sikh identity, joyful personality, and vibrant presence could inspire others. That’s why we took the leap into pageantry and modeling—not for the trophies, but to show the world that even at one year old, representation and visibility matter.

Now, as Mr. Baby California 2025 and a VIP fashion show model, Uday is stepping into everything I believed he could be—and more.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Uday may only be a year old, but even in his short journey so far, there were moments that tested our strength as a family. When we first entered him into the Mr. Baby California pageant, we were nervous—he was the first Sikh child to participate at that level. We faced doubts, stereotypes, and questions about whether our culture would be embraced in such a space.

There were moments when we almost stepped back—unsure if the world was ready to see a turbaned baby representing with pride. But every time Uday smiled, every time he stood in front of a camera with natural confidence, we knew we couldn’t give up. He reminded us that representation starts early—and that even the smallest voices deserve to be seen and heard.

Today, Uday isn’t just a titleholder. He’s a trailblazer in his own little way. And that’s why we keep going—for him, and for every child who deserves to see themselves reflected in places they were once excluded from.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Even at just one year old, it’s clear that Uday values joy, connection, and being surrounded by love. While he doesn’t have “closest friends” yet in the traditional sense, the people closest to him—his family, caretakers, and supporters—would say that what matters most to him is presence.

Uday thrives when people are present with him—smiling, singing, clapping, and sharing in his laughter. Whether he’s on a runway or in the living room, he lights up when he feels seen, supported, and celebrated. And even at this young age, we can already see that what matters to him is not the spotlight itself, but the joy he creates for others while he’s in it.

That’s what makes him special—his ability to radiate happiness, and in doing so, remind us all what really matters.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
As Uday’s parents, we hope the story people tell about him is one of light, courage, and cultural pride. That even from a very young age, he inspired others by simply being himself—a joyful, confident Sikh child who broke barriers with a smile on his face and a turban on his head.

We hope people say that Uday reminded the world that beauty and greatness come in all forms and that representation matters even in infancy. That he stood for something bigger than a title—he stood for inclusion, identity, and joy.

And most of all, we hope his legacy is filled with stories of how he brought people together—across cultures, communities, and generations—by just being authentically Uday.
