Terri Ross shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Terri, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?
There really isn’t a “typical” day—but there is a rhythm.
Most mornings start quietly. I wake up early, meditate, and try to read, even if it’s just a few pages. That time matters to me because it’s how I ground myself before the demands of the day begin. From there, my focus shifts to the most important role I have: being a mom. Getting my daughter ready, sharing those small, everyday moments together, and creating a sense of stability—even when life is moving fast.
Running two companies means I spend about 75% of my time on the road, teaching, training, and speaking. My days are filled with strategy sessions, client meetings, flights, stages, and conversations that require presence, clarity, and energy. The juggling isn’t always graceful, and balance isn’t something I pretend to have mastered. Some days are messy. Some days are exhausting.
But every part of it is tied to a larger purpose. I’m building something that allows me to lead with integrity, create impact, and show my daughter what commitment, resilience, and follow-through look like in real life. I want her to see that you can pursue big goals, serve others, and still stay deeply connected to who—and what—matters most.
It’s not easy. But it’s meaningful. And that makes all the difference.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Terri Ross, a strategic growth consultant, sales trainer, and and industry advisor specializing in medical aesthetics and integrative wellness.
For more than two decades, I’ve worked alongside practice owners, providers, and aesthetic brands to help them build profitable and scalable businesses—without losing the heart of patient care.
I’m the Founder and CEO of Terri Ross Consulting, and Co-Founder of the 4s Summit, where my team and I have supported over 2,000 practices globally, helping many achieve seven+ figure growth by refining strategy, optimizing finance and operations, and elevating the patient experience.
What makes my work unique is that it sits at the intersection of business intelligence and human connection. I don’t believe growth comes from tactics alone—it comes from aligned leadership, empowered teams, systems and training that support both performance and purpose.
Earlier in my career, I spent over 15 years in executive sales and leadership roles within Fortune 500 medical device companies, consistently ranking in the top tier nationally. I also served as a managing partner of a Beverly Hills medical spa that was successfully acquired within four years.
Those experiences shaped my practical, results-driven approach and gave me a deep understanding of what it truly takes to scale from the inside out. Today, I am also the Co-Founder of the 4S Summit, a business of aesthetics conference I started 2 years ago. I also speak internationally, as a consultant for medical companies, am on the board of 4 industry organizations and host the podcast In Touch with Terri, “Trade Secrets for Medical Aesthetics” where I share candid insights and sharing real-world knowledge on the business of aesthetics and what separates thriving practices from stagnant ones.
My current focus is helping practices prepare for long-term success by elevating sales training and consultation strategy, building stronger and more accountable teams, driving sustainable growth, and positioning businesses for future valuation—all while raising the standard for professionalism and excellence across the industry.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship that most shaped how I see myself is the one I had with my parents. They were blue-collar entrepreneurs—both hairdressers—who built their livelihood with their hands, their work ethic, and an unwavering belief in possibility.
My mother was born deaf, yet she never saw limitation where others might have. She showed me, every single day, that resilience is not loud—it’s consistent, determined, and deeply self-assured.
Growing up, I learned early that nothing was handed to us. Hard work was not optional—it was a given. Money was something to be respected, earned, and managed wisely. But alongside discipline, my parents gave me something even more powerful: belief. I was raised being told that I could be anything I wanted to be, as long as I was willing to work for it—and that if I wanted something badly enough, I had to go after it with courage and conviction.
Watching my parents build a life through grit, integrity, and self-belief shaped the foundation of who I am today. Their example taught me that success isn’t about circumstance—it’s about mindset, effort, and the refusal to let obstacles define your future. Everything I’ve built, and the way I lead, coach, and show up in the world, traces back to those lessons.
Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
I see it often in my work with aesthetic practice owners—and it usually happens in a quiet, pivotal moment.
Most of the practices we work with come to us feeling overwhelmed and frustrated. They know something isn’t working, but they’re buried in the day-to-day seeing patients, buried in operations, disconnected from their data, unsure why profitability is lagging, conversions are inconsistent, their providers are not hitting revenue targets, patient retention is low and growth feels harder than it should.
When we complete a Formal Business Report, it’s often the first time someone has truly performed an audit of their business. We take a deep, honest look at the financials, systems, sales, operations, compensation structures, KPIs, pricing, and patient flow. And then comes the hard part—when I sit with them and walk through the findings.
Being listened to, in that moment, doesn’t always feel comfortable. It often means hearing that prices need to increase, compensation plans need to change, teams need to be trained on performance metrics, or long-standing marketing relationships may no longer be serving the practice. It requires openness, courage, and trust.
But when our clients truly listen—and more importantly, act—the transformation is extraordinary. I’ve watched practices implement these changes and grow by over $2 million in a single year. Not because of shortcuts or trends, but because they finally aligned their strategy with reality and gave themselves permission to lead with clarity.
To me, being listened to isn’t just about being heard—it’s about having the willingness to respond, adjust, and evolve. That’s where real growth begins.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Absolutely. What you see is what you get—and I’m proud of that.
I walk the walk and talk the talk. My credibility doesn’t come from theory or trend-chasing; it comes from decades in the trenches—building, selling, leading, failing, learning, and doing the work. There’s a lot of noise and “want-to-be” expertise out there, and I’ve never been interested in playing that game. I believe authenticity beats polish every time.
I’m known for being real—sometimes very real. I swear on stage. In fact, if I don’t say “fuck,” people assume something’s wrong. It’s become a running joke: What would Terri say? But behind the humor is intention. I speak the way I do because I want people to feel seen, challenged, and told the truth—not sold a fantasy.
Integrity matters deeply to me. Being authentic doesn’t mean being careless; it means being honest, grounded, and accountable. As a single mom, that’s exactly how I’m raising my daughter—to be fully herself, to stand confidently in who she is, and to understand that character and work ethic still matter in a world obsessed with appearances.
We live in a time where so much feels manufactured and performative. I choose real. Always have. And I think people feel that—not because I’m trying to be different, but because I refuse to be anything I’m not.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope they say that I showed up—fully, fiercely, and with intention. That I was devoted and loyal to the people I love, that I’ve served, and that I never forgot where I came from, even as I rose in an industry where women weren’t always invited to lead.
I built my career in a male-dominated world by doing the work, earning trust, and delivering real results. I didn’t just help businesses grow—I helped people believe in themselves. I helped practices scale, teams find confidence in their roles, and leaders step into clarity and accountability. I made people feel secure, valued, and proud of what they were building.
But beyond the titles and accomplishments, I hope I’m remembered as someone who loved deeply. A great friend. A sister. And most importantly, a devoted mother. My greatest legacy isn’t my business—it’s my daughter, Sloane. I want her to remember watching me on stage, speaking with conviction, teaching with purpose, and giving back without expectation. I want her to know that success and integrity can coexist, and that lifting others is the highest form of leadership.
If there’s one thing I hope people carry forward, it’s this: you can be strong and kind, ambitious and generous, successful and real. And that the most meaningful impact we leave behind isn’t measured in numbers—it’s measured in the lives we’ve touched and the example we set.
