Story & Lesson Highlights with Tanner Huante of Torrance

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Tanner Huante. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Tanner, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Right now I’m working out of a private studio, so my days are pretty chill but structured. I usually start off by taking my dog out and hitting the gym to wake up. After that, it’s shower, coffee, and straight to the studio. Once I’m there, I’ll clean up, set up for my appointment or appointments depends if it’s a big piece or a few smaller ones. After tattooing, I’ll usually spend some time sketching and planning designs for the next day. And then if I can squeeze it in, I’ll try to have a little bit of a social life before doing it all over again

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Tanner Huante, a tattoo artist based in Torrance, CA. I specialize in black and grey anime, pop culture, and neo-traditional/illustrative tattoos blending those worlds into unique, personal pieces. Whether it’s something silly or deeply meaningful, I love getting to create art that lives on people forever.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
As cliché as it sounds, I’d say my mom. She’s always believed I’d end up doing something creative, even when I couldn’t see it myself. Looking back, it’s funny how she recognized that part of me before I did, and her support gave me the confidence to pursue it

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Oh, a deeper one, huh? Haha. I think I’d tell my younger self, ‘You’re doing better than you realize. Keep trusting that belief you carry in yourself, it’s going to open doors and take you places you can’t even picture yet.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
I sure hope so! Haha. I don’t really try to hide who I am or how I’m feeling. I’m incredibly lucky to do what I do, and I try to put out as much gratitude for it as possible. I’m only human, so it’s not always perfect, but it’s always genuine, it’s always me

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. When do you feel most at peace?
Honestly, I feel most at peace when I’m creating: tattooing, drawing, painting, whatever it is. There’s something almost magical about getting lost in a project and watching it come to life.
