Story & Lesson Highlights with Sole Bovelli of LA/London

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Sole Bovelli. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Sole, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
I’ve just wrapped my first year as an MFA Professional actor at LAMDA in London. During the strike and after years of training and working in screen, I decided to start training at drama school because I found myself very challenged and intrigued by the world of theatre. I was compelled by the rigour and challenge. I was waitlisted for both Juilliard and Lamda, but ended up going to London. There’s a culture of art and theatre here, unlike anything I’ve experienced.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m a Mexican-Italian-Hungarian actress. I’ve lived in Mexico, Boston, Los Angeles, and now London. I’m a screen and stage actor currently at LAMDA in London. I’m always collaborating and very drawn to upcoming directors that bring a new lens/perspective to art. I’m inspired by all kinds of creatives from different parts of the world.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
The idea that we have to choose to be one kind and identify as that. I spent many years bouncing from all kinds of different experiences because I was an explorer. I think that’s what led me to be an artist. There aren’t any rules, and I can explore different worlds and different sides of myself.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I think most creatives experience this constant loop of feeling on top of the world and then falling, only to then build themselves back up even stronger and better than before. But it’s part of what makes us resilient. When those days creep in, you remind yourself of what your heart wants, so you wake up the next day fresh again to keep going. I think putting a deadline on yourself based on what society makes you believe is something that provokes that. I try not to let go of the magic, and that’s what keeps me going.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
Jessica Chastain. She has this incredible vulnerability and strength at the same time. She’s always after the importance of sharing a story and being respected over power, and I think you can see that in every one of her performances.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
I wouldn’t regret what I’m doing now, but I would definitely regret not enjoying the journey. It can be so easy to fall into being goal-oriented and working until you find something. But it’s a life journey, and there’s so much beauty that surrounds us going down this path that can actually inspire us and elevate us too.
