Story & Lesson Highlights with Rachel Kylian of Los Angeles

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Rachel Kylian. Check out our conversation below.

Rachel, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
I think energy is very important to me.
I need to have energy to get things done. I love to work out before I start my day.
I believe energy is around us also, I love to be around positive energy. I go to nature a lot, I love the ocean to recharge, go hiking, go skiing, go on vacation. I am a yogi, I love my yoga community that is filled with beautiful energy.
Energy is the fuel that drives me, so I stay away from energy drainers and protect my energy.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Rachel Kylian is a French-American actress, writer, and producer making her mark across both film and television. As a storyteller behind the camera, she wrote and produced the short films Epiphany and It’s Time.
On screen, Kylian recently co-starred in BET’s The Family Business: New Orleans, NBC’s Magnum P.I., and HBO’s And Just Like That. Her television credits also include standout appearances in ABC’s Promised Land, Apple TV+’s Physical, CBS’s FBI, STARZ’s Counterpart, and the rebooted MacGyver, among others.
Her film work spans a variety of genres, with notable roles in Almost Christmas, Interpreters, The Moment, The Wrong Man, The Climb, and Sunlight. She appears in a supporting role in the thriller Cabin Presssure, and her next feature, Lipstick, is set to hit theaters on October 1st.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
I think my mother who is a Chef and restaurant owner taught me most about work. She is a hardworking immigrant from the Comoros Islands, she opened her restaurant in France, and has always made sure that I have all the tools to succeed in life.
In my childhood, I saw her ambition, her drive, her work ethic and I believe I learned from her.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I am so proud of you.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
I believe in God. I am muslim. I find it hard to convince a non believer that there is something out there.
But eventually if that non believer is around me for a long period time they tend to believe there is something out there after they see the power of God in my life.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I am a yogi and my yoga practice is one of my happy places. I feel at total peace after any yoga class. I highly recommend yoga to anyone who has never tried it.
I also feel at peace at the beach, or in the mountains when I ski. I love nature.
