Story & Lesson Highlights with Patrick Antonian of Hollywood

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Patrick Antonian. Check out our conversation below.

Patrick, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Right now, I’m really enjoying art. Graffiti art, fine art, murals, sculptures, and even architecture. Most any medium of art, but I’m really into street art right now.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m an L.A. denizen with roots from overseas. I moved to Hollywood at the age of two, around the time of the golden era of Hip Hop. My songs blend the raw/gritty essence of the West Coast with influences from the East and South.I feel like I’m upholding the morals of past generations while embracing the new era. I’ve found my place as L.A.’s grimy rap voice. My interests include music, song writing, music licensing, rapping, acting, live performance, ghost writing, and art.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My first time being in actual love as an adult. That relationship definitely made a big difference for me. It was the first time I could totally be myself and I was loved and accepted for every strength and flaw. I always had a sense of who I was, but that relationship affirmed it. I will always remember and love her.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there are probably a few times through the years. Even now, my passion for making music is in a low frequency. I’m enjoying being a fan again and really loving and trying my hand in art. I don’t think I will ever “give up.” It’s just about making sure my passion is in place before moving forward again. I think that’s true for any artistic expression

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, I’d like to believe so, Haha. I try my best to always be my authentic self. I really have an issue with people trying to portray something they are not. The whole world is too obsessed with the idea of “celebrity” and getting their 15 minutes of fame through social media. Everyone thinks they are some sort of influencer. I think music, art, and, culture are negatively impacted because of this.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely! That’s the only way I operate. It’s in my nature to do my best in any situation. Whether people notice or not is irrelevant. What’s important is doing our best and leveling up the skill in anything we choose. It’s my time and energy, why would I waste it doing a half a** job.
