We recently had the chance to connect with Jessica To and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
My week days are pretty structured, to make the most of my day. Some people rely on caffeine to start their day. I like to start my morning with a nice workout. I am up at 5:00 A.M. every morning to get my workout in. My workout is usually 45-60 minutes. Then I shower, get ready for work. I don’t usually don’t have much time for a “sit down breakfast”, so I would have a protein drink after my workout every morning, to hold me over until lunch break. Since I do not have a lot of time to work out during the day, because of my work schedule. I prefer to relax after work. I don’t like to work out late in the evening either, because that is my “personal time”. Once I am off work, I am off-duty and just want to unwind properly before I shower and getting ready for bed.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello everyone, and it’s truly a pleasure to do this interview with Bold Journey today. I currently work for an international alternative investment firm (Private Equity), headquartered in Los Angeles, CA. We maintains a global presence with offices in over many cities across North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. We also have offices in major cities across the globe, where we primarily focused on alternative investment markets. Our firm is expanding its footprint and we look forward to expanding into more countries and regions, and open new offices in other major cities. I am blessed to have a wonderful and rewarding career. I love what I do because I get the opportunity to work with incredibly talented people, who teaches me something new every single day. So there’s never a dull moment or ordinary day.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
I believe the kind of relationship that shaped how I see myself, always starts with the relationship I have with myself, first and foremost. So it is one I built with myself–learning to trust my own clarity, discernment and intuition, because I make most of life most important decisions through this thought process. I am not an impulsive person at all, so I’m also not very reactive nor act impulsively either. I’d say I’m more calm, well-adjusted, composed and grounded.
Early experiences taught me clarity, not through perfection, but through recognizing what didn’t align. Those moments helped me understand my values deeply, to honor myself and my personal boundaries, and walk away from what isn’t aligned, even when it was difficult. Those process taught me who I am, when no one is watching, and what I’m willing to stand for and what I will not tolerate.
Being surrounded by great mentors and people of integrity across different stages of life also shaped how I see myself. Watching how grounded people move, how they make decisions that reflects their personal values, how they handle pressure and responsibility and how they live with consistency, how they show up–has taught me to value substance and character over noise and spectacle. These experiences shaped the standards I now live by.
When did you last change your mind about something important?
I recently changed my mind about patience. I used to think clarity required immediacy, quick decisions, quick responses. I’ve learned that allowing space often reveals more truth than urgency ever could. This experience also shifted my perspective on what deserves my immediate access of my time and attention. Not everything requires a reaction, and discernment has become more valuable to me than speed.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
“Fads tend to be driven by urgency and external validation–they appear quickly, rely on novelty, is loud and flashy, posturing, and fade just as fast. Foundational shifts, on the other hand, integrate quietly. They change behavior, decision-making, and standards over time, even when no one is watching, because it shows up in consistency, discipline and the way people behave overtime. I pay attention to what lasts, what compounds, and what still make sense after the excitement has passed, because what lasts without needing to be constantly reinforced is usually what matters most.”
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
“I understand that clarity doesn’t come from urgency. Most people rush decisions because discomfort feels intolerable, but I’ve learned that patience often reveals more truth than pressure ever could. When you’re willing to pause, observe, and listen–both to yourself and to circumstances–better judgment follows. That understanding shapes how I move through life.”
