Story & Lesson Highlights with Alessandro Wilkie of Hollywood, California

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Alessandro Wilkie. Check out our conversation below.

Alessandro, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Who are you learning from right now?
Since moving to California in April for college (Musicians Institute), I’ve met and interacted with a lot of different people.
LA is literally on the other side of the world from where I grew up, both geographically and culturally speaking.
It took a little while to adjust to the lifestyle.
The cool thing about MI is that there are people from all over the planet attending school, so it’s a melting pot for international Music students.
I try and learn what I can from all sorts of different sources, be it teachers, classmates or lessons at Music school, as well as my new Californian surroundings.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Alessandro Wilkie, I’m a Scottish/Italian Guitarist from Torino, Italy.
I’m currently studying at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA, and I Play my own Music with my Band Dionysian.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
I would say my father.
He is a Scottish car designer who moved to Italy in the late ‘80s for work.
His work ethic, passion and spirit towards his job are things that I’ve always noticed, even as a kid.
Back then I probably didn’t realise that, but it made an impression that stuck with me when I started getting serious about Music.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
I think the two are intertwined.
Doubt and struggle are part of what makes someone/something successful in any field, and in a way the hard part of it keeps You grounded and focused.
Success is great of course, and it is good to see Your passion and work blossom, but it takes time and dedication.
I believe that’s the key to it.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
My grandma Nina (Nonna Nina in Italian).

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Yes.

With Dionysian we worked really hard for the first 4 years of our Band before getting any meaningful recognition.
We did it because we believed in what we were doing and we just enjoyed Playing with each other and writing songs together.
Practice makes perfect, and eventually people start noticing the amount of time You put into something.
Our self titled debut Album “Dionysian” will be released on Friday, January 16th 2026.
A couple of singles from it are already available online, like “Up In The Air” and “Alpha Man”.
