Rising Stars: Meet Refined n Aktiv

Today we’d like to introduce you to Refined n Aktiv.

Hi Refined n Aktiv, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Refined N Aktiv started with a simple idea: **create a space where Black people could come together, enjoy brunch, connect, and simply have a good time.**

What began as two friends putting together a birthday brunch quickly became something bigger. We saw how much people valued having a space where they could let loose, meet new people, build relationships, network, and enjoy an experience that felt like it was created with them in mind.

As the events began to grow, a third partner joined us who saw the bigger vision and believed we could turn what we were creating into a real brand. The three of us combined our ideas, relationships, creativity, and hard work to build what would eventually become **Rhythm N Brunch LA** and the foundation of **Refined N Aktiv**.

The journey has been a learning experience. Every event has taught us something about our audience, hospitality, partnerships, culture, and what it really takes to create an experience people want to return to. Through those lessons, we’ve continued to refine what we do and become more intentional about the spaces we create.

At the heart of Refined N Aktiv has always been **community, connection, and culture**. While our foundation was creating experiences for the Black community, we’ve always welcomed people from different cultures and backgrounds to come together, connect, and enjoy the experience with us.

Today, Refined N Aktiv is about more than throwing events. **We’re creating experiences that bring people together, build relationships, create memories, and give our community a space to celebrate life and culture.**

What started as a birthday brunch became a vision and that vision continues to grow.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. We’ve experienced plenty of ups and downs along the way agreements and disagreements, bad business decisions, lost funds, partnerships that didn’t work out, and many of the challenges that naturally come with building a brand from the ground up.

But we don’t believe the road is supposed to be completely smooth when you’re trying to build something meaningful and sustainable. Some of our biggest lessons have come from the moments that didn’t go as planned.

We’ve had to learn how to communicate better, make smarter business decisions, understand who and what aligns with our vision, and most importantly, how to keep moving forward when things don’t work out.

Failure and mistakes are part of the process. **You either allow them to stop you, or you learn from them and use those lessons to become better.**

For us, every challenge has helped refine Refined N Aktiv. We’re still learning, still growing, and still evolving but that’s part of what makes the journey worth it.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At the core of our work, **Refined N Aktiv is an event and experiential company focused on creating dope experiences that bring people together.**

We want every experience we create to feel intentional, memorable, and authentic from the music and venue to the food, energy, people, and overall atmosphere.

For us, it’s bigger than just producing events. We want to create moments people genuinely enjoy, talk about afterward, and look forward to experiencing again.

As we continue to grow, our goal is to take that same energy into larger events, cultural experiences, creative brand activations, and partnerships that connect brands with our community in a real and organic way.

More than anything, we just want to say how much we appreciate the community that has supported Refined N Aktiv and helped us build this brand into what it is today. Every person who has attended an event, shared a moment, brought a friend, supported an idea, or simply believed in what we’re creating has been part of the journey.

We’re excited about where we’re headed and looking forward to creating even more special experiences, brand activations, partnerships, and memorable moments in the future.
