Rising Stars: Meet Matthew Tubens of New York

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matthew Tubens.

Hi Matthew, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I graduated high school I decided I wanted to change my life and build something I’d be excited to call my job for the rest of my life. Since I was already skipping class to listen and make music I figured I I’d go after it. I was really inspired by the 80’s and the music it birthed. So many songs that transcended culture and genre and just brought people together. I love the immersion of music and how it can make you feel like a character in a movie. It’s a special magic like that, that I’m after in my own work. Years later I’m still making music and it’s better than it ever has been.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it wasn’t a smooth road I’ve had to invest so much more time, energy, and emotion into this journey than i imagine. Doing shows and putting out music has forced me to learn so many skills like make ting, public speaking, dancing, and even video editing. I’ve lost money to scammers and have had people I love tell me I’ll never succeed, but I keep going

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I think what I’m most proud of is being able to sing, dance, and produce my songs. I really love the ability to tie everything together for a more immersive experience.
