Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Hoyt.
Hi Ben, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I consider myself extremely lucky to have been raised in an environment that encouraged creativity, performance, and a deep appreciation for the arts. Growing up as a classical musician allowed me to learn from, and to share the stage with many phenomenal artists.
While developing my classical training, I was encouraged to pursue other musical avenues: Irish fiddling, Rock and roll, improvisation, piano, guitar, music production. Though the study of the violin has always remained central to my musical journey, exploration beyond the classical world has deeply influenced my artistic development.
Today, my performances showcase a combination of these skills. An infusion of improvisation and spontaneity into familiar songs makes every performance and event a unique experience.
I love to play!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When Covid hit, I used the opportunity to take a leap and moved from Washington, D.C. to Los Angeles. I had been visiting for years and always wanted to live in the area. Building my professional network was difficult at first, due to lockdown restrictions and the fact that I had no connections in the industry. In the years since, however, I have been lucky to meet and work with more incredible people than I ever could have imagined.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work is primarily based in the wedding and events industry. I am a roaming violinist who loves to share music with all audiences. My main setup includes a full sound system, professional accompaniment tracks, and wireless equipment, allowing me to engage with audiences as I perform. It also includes all DJ-style support, such as original song playback and wireless microphone coverage.
The existence of this business is the inevitable continuation of a lifelong passion for the violin. I consider myself extraordinarily lucky to have found a community that supports and encourages my growth as a musician, business owner, and human being.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Since I began, the amount of kindness and positivity I have received from clients, guests, and fellow vendors has been nothing short of phenomenal. I have enjoyed some of the greatest support, advice and words of encouragement of my entire life working in this industry. Without these extraordinary gifts, I would be in a wildly different place than I am today. I cannot put into words the immense gratitude I have for the incredible people I have met these last few years!
