We recently had the chance to connect with Myesha Collins and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Myesha, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
MYSELF. Often I find myself reflecting on my life. The years, months, weeks and moments before this one.
As someone who became a mother at 15, my life was often over shadowed by what others projected of me. Even after being raped, sexually assaulted, sexually harassed at work and minimized, I still kept focus on myself. Building not only myself but influencing others to build themselves from whatever experiences that may have shaped them.
Today I stand proud and honored to be able to explore myself in new ways. Being able to release the illusion of control and embrace my abilities to create.
Today I find new ways to find myself over and over again. To find peace and self love in every moment. Building an unshakable me has been the focus.
The behind the scenes work and reprogramming has been impactful for me. Being able to see myself differently and how I interact and show up in the world.
Everyday I get the opportunity to SEE me differently, in power and of influence.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Myesha Monique Collins, Los Angeles California native. I consider myself a Resource, Voice of Reason, and someone Authentic.
Recently adding a Spiritual Arm, I am also able to serve as an resource to others utilizing my Ordained Minister title. Utilizing energy and various tools such as Tarot and Alchemy; I have found other avenues to tap into SELF. This has created a vast reach for me to continue to serve.
I have published books (Blue Girl Turned Gold) Volumes 1-3, created workshops, and found unique powerful ways to share my experiences & impact others.
In 2015 my Non Profit Blue Girls Turned Gold became a 501c3 organization. Since then I have been able to directly affect over 7 thousand families by just being me.
From encouraging the youth to find their inner Genius with my Genius Is childrens book, to impacting families with coaching, counseling, and other means of healing, I find ways to help where I am able.
I am currently transitioning to serving communities via my S.H.A. Consulting (Strategic Human Accountability) umbrella.
Due to lack of funding, Blue Girls Turned Gold the non profit may be discontinued. While I have been able to help thousands; under the Federal Organization, I have not been able to attain Federal Assistance to sustain nationwide services optimally. This has a sign for me to transition; still doing the work but as the person and not the Organization itself.
It is my pleasure to continue to be the voice, the resource, and the Myesha I know I am. I will continue to assist myself and others Authentically and in Power!
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Lack of accountability and trust is what I believe breaks bonds with people. The trust must be restored by resolving the issue of lack of accountability. We all need trust, we all need accountability.
In the world we see that people have lost trust. Whether that’s in leadership, government, or from those who may have influenced us. This is reflected in seeing loss of trust and having a sense of connection. We are now building trust in ourselves and leading in accountability, this will serve as a new way of being for us all, in my opinion.
We are consistently told as an society and community that lack is all we have; when in actually we all have abundance. We have unlimited opportunities to change, to enhance and to recreate and rebuild bonds and the nation as a whole.
In restoring trust and accountability within ourselves, we can reshape our reality and hence mend those once broken bonds.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
One of my prior fears surrounded reporting a former CEO for harassment. That fear held me back for a moment. I was in fear for my life. I was silenced and I was internally confused about why?
That moment and experience as a whole reshaped how I saw the world, how I saw others. It was indeed the same fear that propelled me to create a new way of living, a new way of truly choosing myself.
Now, seeing that things happen because they are supposed to, makes me able to be more present. Requires me to continue to speak, to teach, to heal, to help.
Being able to see the truth in it all and being able speak on it no matter what has been my power. I took my power back and became the voice of the voiceless. I was once voiceless.
F.E.A.R is now False Evidence Appearing Real as noted in Volume 1 of Blue Girl Turned Gold. While we can be fearful, we also can be strong and steadfast is standing up for ourselves. We can continue to speak in power, even when our whole being shakes. We overcome fear and embrace strength always.
It’s the power you unfold that will continue to carry you through life. This has been my experience.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
“Experiences shape who we are, but they do not dictate who we become”.
This quote emphasizes that yes, we are shaped by life and its Experiences
Yes, we are shaped by what others project upon us.
Yes, we are shaped by society and it’s programming.
Yet, we dictate who we become, why we become and how we become.
I am committed to choosing me and showing others the power in choosing themselves first and always.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
One thing I am known for is being myself, even when it seems to not make sense to others. I believe people will remember how I am someone who does what they say. How I truly embrace myself in every way possible, even when I have no idea what is next.
They will speak about how impactful I was in every phase of my life, even the phases where I felt disempowered, felt lack, or was in deep hurt.
I know that I am here for a purpose and I feel that purpose is for me to be me and allow others to see how powerful it is to simply be themselves.
