Today we’d like to introduce you to Vincent JAQUES.
Hi Vincent, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My story began with a simple observation:
some of the most meaningful moments in our lives are hidden in the most ordinary gestures.
The shower was one of them.
It made me wonder what would happen if we simply paid more attention
to these moments — not by changing them, but by inhabiting them differently.
That thought became Maison LuaknyA.
An independent Maison born from the desire to bring meaning back to the everyday,
and to create quietly, with intention.
ÍNSULA is its first expression, through two creations:
Sillage and Lait Parfumé.
Today, I am still building Maison LuaknyA, slowly and independently,
following the same intuition that set it all in motion.
To make the ordinary feel a little more present.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it has not been a smooth road.
Perhaps the hardest part has been learning to move slowly in a world that constantly asks us to move faster.
Building an independent Maison also means making choices without always knowing where they will lead.
There are moments of doubt, of uncertainty, and many invisible hours behind what eventually becomes visible.
I have learned not to see those moments as obstacles to overcome, but as part of the process.
They have taught me patience and the importance of staying close to the original intuition.
I still don’t have all the answers.
But I know what I want Maison LuaknyA to feel like.
And that is enough to keep moving.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work is about creating fragrances and experiences around the gestures that make up our everyday lives.
I am particularly drawn to the moments we rarely notice — the quiet ones, the familiar ones, the ones that ask nothing from us.
Through Maison LuaknyA, I try to give those moments a different presence, with restraint and intention.
What I am most proud of is perhaps not a particular creation, but the possibility of having created something that feels true to the way I see the world.
What sets my work apart is difficult to define in a single word.
Perhaps it is simply the decision to leave some space — to create without filling every silence.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are many ways to be part of what we are building.
Some may discover Maison LuaknyA through ÍNSULA, others may imagine it in a place,
a ritual or an experience of their own.
We are always open to thoughtful collaborations with people and places that feel connected to what we are creating.
For me, the most interesting collaborations are not about simply putting two names together.
They begin with a shared sensibility, and with the desire to create something that feels natural to both.
Sometimes, support can be as simple as sharing our work, speaking about it,
or introducing it to someone who might understand it.
The door is open.
