Meet Trevor “Tha Rift” Donnelly

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trevor Donnelly.

Trevor “Tha Rift” Donnelly originally hails from Cleveland OH. After serving three years in the US Navy, he moved to Minneapolis MN with his brother, who is also a veteran of the US Army. His brother helped Rift “get on his feet” and adapt to civilian lifestyle. Rift made waves in the city with his music and years later signed a deal as a group member of a rap trio. Fast forward one year later after leaving the group, Rift has just dropped his first solo EDM album called “Leaving Earth” out now on all platforms. Rift also just released a new music video to his lead single on the album called “We Made It” prod by Angelo Bombay.

Rift attended a Domestic Violence awareness event last year in LA presented by Nonprofit Organization – Jenesse Center Inc (@jenessecenter). Rift was inspired after attending the event, once he found out that Halle Berry was heavily involved in this organization and took the time out of her busy life to help those in need and domestic violence victims. Rift’s mother passed away last May 2018, she also was a victim of domestic abuse growing up. Rift decided to partner with another NonProfit Org “In Moms Arms” that’s geared towards helping families in need, disabled veterans, and domestic violence victims. Rift says if his mom was still alive, she would want him to do the right thing and lead people in the right direction in life, in general.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a hard road, I lost my first record deal the same month my mom died. I fell into a hard time, Homeless with my wife and kids. I had to be resourceful.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
My story, my life experience, what I’ve learned from life, and how I’ve learned to give back, is what separates me from others.

Tha Rift LLC is more than an artist. It’s my brand, It’s my lifestyle and what I stand for. Rift means outcast or something that doesn’t fit in. I’ve always been kinda like that. Even now in life, I’m still facing challenges standing up for things I believe in publicly. Defending the less fortunate or victimized individuals and improving them, lifting them up to overcome obstacles.

I am known for music, I signed my first record deal in 2017, and learned a lot musically and business-wise over the next two years. Now I’m chasing the Indie scene, mixing it with a little acting, and working alongside a non- profit “In-Moms-Arms”

I’m most proud of accomplishing as much as I have in life this far, but while enjoying my family in the process. My wife and kids mean the world to me. I’m most proud of my journey with my family and watching us grow.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
You know what they say, “Success is not owned, it’s rented, and the rents due everyday” so in my eyes, success is consistency, hard work, dedication, and sticking to your vision. I believe even if all the odds are stacked against u, the universe, the energy you give out, karma, and God, all play a role in our path of success in life.
