Meet Maryam Forutan of Los Angeles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maryam Forutan.

Hi Maryam, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started 21 years ago! I had just graduated college with a Business Marketing degree and got a job at Northrop Grumman. After a few months of working there I realized it was not the career path I was meant to be in. During this time I also began planning my own wedding. The woman I hired to be my wedding coordinator was in need of assistance after my wedding and asked me if I’d be interested in working for her. At first I thought this could be a fun side job….but soon after I fell in love with the job. After a few months of working with her, she decided to retire as she had been doing this for many years. That’s when I decided I would follow in her footsteps and start my own wedding planning company. I quit my job at Northrop Grumman and started Delicate Details. I knew with every ounce of my existence if I was passionate and dedicated, I would be successful!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning any business comes with its share of challenges, but working in the wedding industry is unique. You’re guiding couples through one of the most meaningful and emotional days of their lives, where expectations are incredibly high and emotions run deep. Success requires not only strong organizational and problem-solving skills, but also empathy, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. While the obstacles can be demanding, helping create unforgettable celebrations makes every challenge worthwhile.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an Event Planner who specializes in weddings. I am most proud of my calm demeanor that puts people ant ease instantly and my ability to connect with all types of personalities.

How do you think about happiness?
My family. I have two beautiful teen daughters that are incredible young ladies. They are kind, compassionate and driven.
