Today we’d like to introduce you to Margo Walker.
Hi Margo , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I changed my profession and became a therapist in 2012 when I heard God’s voice while visiting Los Angeles; He told me to move to the USA and become a therapist. I was an economist and an English tutor and never thought about being a therapist. Since 2012 I’ve got 3 licenses: an esthetician, a massage therapist, and a Craniosacral therapist. My education includes a few massage schools and an esthetician school in Europe, Citrus College in Glendora, CA as an esthetician, and the Upledger Institute as a Craniosacral Certified therapist. My goal is to help everyone who comes to see me find their healing path by applying gentle Craniosacral therapy techniques that help relieve pain, improve whole-body health, and allow the body to relax and self-correct. As an esthetician, it’s so rewarding for me to make people look and feel their best using professional facial equipment and products. Today, this journey of care and sensory wellness has also naturally expanded into founding my own artisanal chocolate brand, bringing mindful, premium experiences into people’s lives.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but the challenges were more about natural adaptation than fear. Even though I didn’t experience a cultural barrier because I had communicated with Americans for many years in my home country, moving wasn’t simple. Though I knew the language, it still took about three years of full immersion to feel completely fluent. Changing my career from being an English tutor for over 10 years and an economist was wonderful and driven by a love for change. When I finished massage school and started working, clients who had received massages for years told me it was the best of their lives and paid me several times the standard rate, and I had no issues with my studies or getting licenses. Opening a practice wasn’t scary at all, and the transition felt completely natural.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I operate Spa-Tique by Margo in Big Bear, California, specializing in advanced bodywork, facial therapies, and somatic care. What sets me apart is that I hold three distinct professional licenses: I am a craniosacral therapist, a massage therapist, and an esthetician. When a client comes in with tension, I take a comprehensive approach by evaluating and testing what is happening on the table. For example, if someone comes in for a massage, I look at structural alignment, such as noticing if the pelvis is rotated, and address that foundation before proceeding with the massage to provide long-term support. If a client is experiencing stress, I can incorporate Somato-Emotional Release therapy, thoughtfully combining different modalities to suit their needs. In the anti-aging area, I use advanced techniques that deliver real facial lifting results, paired with high-quality professional skincare brands and products.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Looking ahead over the next 5 to 10 years, I see a powerful shift in the wellness industry toward a truly holistic, multi-sensory approach where physical healing and mindful nutrition merge. People are moving away from quick fixes and seeking deeper, transformative experiences that address both the body and the mind. For me, this vision naturally expanded into founding my own artisanal chocolate brand, which was born directly from my work in body therapy to help people release stress and find balance. Just as advanced bodywork and somatic care help relieve tension and restore physical freedom, my premium chocolate embodies that exact same spirit of freedom, mindfulness, and sensory joy through its unique design and careful craftsmanship, bridging the gap between internal wellness and daily pleasure.
