Meet Marc Illy of Illytravels in Downtown LA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marc Illy.

Marc illy is an American entrepreneur, songwriter, singer, producer, blogger, social influencer and pianist. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa for a small time, then Los Angeles, Costa Mesa, San Diego, and Boca Raton, FL. He has spent about 16 years on and off of his life in California.

Marc always had a technical background as a kid. He also was a scratch DJ since 15 years old and his mother a Piano player. After high school, he enrolled in college for computer science in Orange County, CA. After discovering he hated programming, he switched his major to music and business, took piano lessons & also interned at a local studio in Orange County, while working at Guitar Center. He then got a job with a famous musician as an engineer and took his skillset to the next level. After that Marc moved to Los Angeles and enrolled at musicians institute for the Keyboard program. He then decided to drop out and become a Full-time freelancer working as a Producer and engineer who also would sell beats online. Marc slowly started to land more and more jobs as a freelance recording engineer around Orange County and Hollywood, CA. He then began to collaborate as a recording engineer for Ghost Kasen. He went on to do some co-production and piano playing for Ghost and other artists along the years. Marc was afforded the opportunity to work with many legendary artists and producers and witness the music industry firsthand. Landing gigs as a pianist, solo artist, producer, and engineer for many of the big names in the industry, He also went on to go on tour for a Legendary group as an opening act.

After that Marc decided to take a break from music and got a sales job with Chase. After one year he got promoted and relocated to Chicago as the Manager. He resigned with Chase after another year and opened up his first online business for Social media marketing. After seeing the power of E-Commerce, Marc decided he was going to spend one year traveling all of Asia, and residing in Thailand for one year, and then Taipei, Taiwan for 2.5 years where he opened up a representative office for his business.

Illy went on to open up a successful online business in 2012 and later became a social media influencer. He also opened up a Hype Beast dog clothing company, as well as his own clothing line called Illy Drip. He learned a lot about e-commerce after opening his first online business and used that know-how to create many new online stores.

With Marc’s varied interest and talent in a plethora fields, it was only a matter of time that he started to experiment and become successful in everything from his artistry, production and songwriting to his e-commerce and social media marketing success. Marc is more than an artist; he’s a successful serial entrepreneur.

Marc also has a travel blog illytravels.com and travels around the world documenting his travels and experiences he saw as well as continuing to produce music.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Illytravels story. Tell us more about the business.
Illytravels.com is my blog and Blog for all my travels. Since I am multi-faceted and do many things, majority of them being online, the Travel blog gives me an outlet to document my travels and experiences with the world. Most of my videos are on my Youtube Channel. It goes hand and hand with my new EDM album coming out that is basically a soundtrack to my travels. I have already released 2 singles on iTUNES & Spotify called Denpasar & Xiangshan California. Take a listen, more coming soon!

What should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am known for being eclectic and trying new things. Being versatile and flexible.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t know if I believe in luck. I like to think I am blessed. During the times when things aren’t at their best, I guess its, “bad luck,” and not bad blessings. But for the most part, I think if you stay focused and are able to whether the bad days with multiple streams of income, you will be alright.
