Meet Luke Jones of CV Keyboards in North Hollywood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Luke Jones.

Luke, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have been working on gear for a long time. Long before I came to the states from Australia. When I first started CV Keyboards, I was working from my dining room table. When I finally got my first shop it was small and hot but it worked for us. I have gone through a few locations and our spot now has 2 different units and is jammed packed with gear. We have come a long way and we keep growing so we cannot complain.

Has it been a smooth road?
Running a business is never a completely smooth road but it has been enjoyable. There are challenges we have to overcome all the time but our employees are great and out clients are great so we stay grateful for what we have. Finding the time to do it all is our biggest problem especially since we continue to grow every day!

CV Keyboards is a vintage keys restoration and servicing shop. We specialize in restoring and servicing old vintage keyboards, organs and synths like Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer, Hammond Organs and Leslie, Hohner, Moog, Vox, and others. We take broken old things and make them work better than when they came from the factory years ago. We also build custom cabinets and piano shells for people’s gear. We are most proud of our custom work. I specialized in woodwork in Australia so building a custom cabinet and painting a keyboard to look like nothing anyone has ever seen is the best for me. We also make the keyboards sound as they should which keyboard players notice. We love when a keyboard player plays something and tells us they have never known the keyboard should even sound like that. I think that the fact that we genuinely want to produce the best for people regardless of status, or fame or whatever and we treat each client as a special case sets us apart. We do everything we can to keep people happy with their vintage gear.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Los Angeles has music. We service music gear. This is where it all is.
