Meet Lisa Maree

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Maree.

Lisa has been dubbed the Aussie label to watch by virtue of signature crochet worked beachwear. Lisa brings Australia’s beach culture and the spirit of an Australian summer into her glamazonian aesthetic.

Launched in 2009, the first collection favored crochet swimwear and day-to-night beachwear. She stole the spotlight at Australian Fashion Week and on the tail of this successful debut, she followed up with another runaway success and launch of her line in the USA at Miami Swim Fashion Week. She continues to impress global fashion critics with her collections and was handpicked by prestigious Fashion Boutiques worldwide, including Net-a-Porter, ShopBop, Selfridges, Beymen, Free People and many more.

A firm favorite among well-dressed celebs by the likes of Rihanna, Vanessa Hudgens, Jennifer Lopez, Mel B, Kate Upton, Ashley Tisdale, Alyssa Milano and Kourtney Kardashian, she has created a fashionable range with styles that can take you from beach babe by day to boho chic by night and continues to deliver incredible designs for each season.

Has it been a smooth road?
The fashion industry can test the toughest at times, and the last 9 years have definitely revealed both ups and downs. One of my biggest struggles happened when we expanded too quickly in the very early stages of the business. The lessons that come from scaling a team unnecessarily was something I learned the hard way, it’s very easy to start creating new offices and employing new people when the business grows rapidly, however my advice would be to always be conservative. In saying this, there has been many incredible moments, Amy Adams wearing my suit in the most iconic scene in Oscar winning movie American Hustle, Jennifer Lopez wearing my suit on the cover of US Weekly and many more. The journey to date has been exciting, inspirational and simply incredible.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Lisa Maree is known for her crochet swimwear. We specialize in a reengineered crochet that holds its shape when wet, doesn’t sag and actually stretches, unlike the retro crochet from years ago. Lisa Maree is the only crochet brand that offers the look of crochet with modern day yarn engineering.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I absolutely believe that Los Angeles is a great place for our business and we would absolutely recommend starting out in such a place!
