Meet Leeron London

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leeron London.

Leeron, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started out as an actor and yogi and then somehow settled into a full-time corporate job to make ends meet. While I was there I always knew it wasn’t the type of environment for me so I spent weekends and nights doing training over the eight years I was there (from yoga teacher training, meditation training, kids yoga training, yoga therapy training and then after my first child I added pre/postnatal yoga and doula work which changed everything). My father passed away from cancer when I was one year old and my mom, a teacher, worked tirelessly to make sure I had a good education and I always felt that I had to live up to a certain expectation. However, eight years into my corporate job and two kids later, I was falling apart. My body was literally rejecting driving into work every day. Every fiber of my being was telling me to let it go. That it was time. I was scared. At this point, the stakes were much higher. I had a 2.5 years old, a seven months old and my husband was unemployed. I knew that it would take time for me to build my business.

Logically, it was not the smart thing to do, but sometimes you just have to take a risk and trust yourself and the universe. So I quit. Luckily my husband got a job a few weeks later, but building a business takes hard work, and so does raising two kiddos. I hustled to get some prenatal and private yoga teaching gigs and soon also decided to add reiki to my practice when I noticed how powerful meaningful touch could be when a woman gives birth. And now, almost two years after I quit, during these unprecedented times, my work mostly focuses on birth work, helping mommas connect to their pregnancy and feel empowered by their birth, as well as teaching mindfulness and meditation. I hope to continue to build a business that focuses on nurturing the family and calming the mind. I think we could all use some mind TLC during these times.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have definitely been struggles. Anytime, I had wanted to take the leap during my time at my corporate job, something would convince me to stay – from my husband’s unemployment to getting pregnant to having to pay unexpected bills including a few ER visits from car accidents and mystery emergency room visits where we didn’t know what would happen health-wise. It hasn’t been easy trying to finish training while also caring for two children. Finding time and space in a small house can be challenging, but when you are committed things happen. In their own divine timing.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
My business now primarily focuses on supporting women and their partners through pregnancy and empowering them during their birth. I offer prenatal yoga classes and mindful practices to help women during this impactful time, as well as private yoga for those who prefer one-on-one support. I also offer reiki as part of my doula support or as a private offering in person or via zoom. I’m incredibly proud that I get to have a positive impact on a family’s birth experience as well as help people find powerful tools to reduce anxiety and stress. I truly believe incorporating reiki into my yoga and doula work offers an extra magical aspect to the birth and yoga experience. I have seen first hand the positive impact reiki can have in the birthroom and even with my children and love that I infuse it into my practice. I currently have a partner doula I work with, offering clients a two for one doula experience!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Besides the day I decided to quit my corporate job, which was probably the scariest and proudest day of my career, the moment that truly has had an impact on me was a birth I attended as a doula. At this birth, the momma was really struggling to stay focused. The doctors were ready to take her in for a c-section but she did not want to do it. Using reiki and visualization, I was able to calm her down. We noticed her babies heart rate lower and her body relax. She was able to dilate more and stay relaxed for much longer. It was a magical moment seeing her entire being immersed in the visualization and knowing the power of simple touch and words. I hope to offer this to more moms down the road.
