Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberli Guzman and Patricia Sweeny.
Kimberli and Patricia, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
The first time I recall thinking, I was a professional photographer, I was about 7. I was given $5 for every “A” that I got on my report card. I took the money and bought myself a polaroid camera.
Thankfully, the quality of my art has improved significantly over the years and I can proudly say that I am an international award-winning boudoir photographer. 🙂 I still have all the polaroid pics in an album and it is fun to look and recall all the memories.
Over the years, I have photographed everything from events, weddings, maternity, babies, engagements and portraits. About 3 years ago, I decided to specialize in boudoir photography because it is very personal and allows me to really connect with my subjects to capture their true self. I love how women feel when they leave the studio.
Their confidence and spirit is lifted and they feel empowered.
I’m grateful to be able to work with such an incredible all female team of professionals.
Our Studio Manager and fellow photographer Patricia is amazing and people are lining up to shoot with her.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The main obstacle would be women being too hard on themselves.
Beauty is found in every age, shape and size. We frequently have women cry in our office while looking at their pictures because they never felt so beautiful before. That is an amazing gift to give someone!
I think there is still a lot of judgement of women embracing their sexuality. Some of my neighboring businesses, and more conservative family members are judgmental and think we are shooting porn. lol
The reality is that most of the women we shoot are getting married, getting divorced, have lost a bunch of weight or have been married for many years and want to surprise their husbands. They are everyday woman that want to feel stunning.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Crush Photo Studios story. Tell us more about the business.
I would comfortably say that we are the premier boudoir studio in O.C. We have near 4,000 sq. feet of interior designed space, an endless assortment of furnishings, backdrops, props and a fantasy closet filled with accessories.
Clients come and while enjoying a mimosa get their hair and makeup done by professional artists that are AMAZING! Once they are all glammed up, we head up to the studio for the photoshoot.
Everyone is nervous at first but they all leave saying the same thing “That was so much fun, everyone should do this, I want to do it again!” We feel like we gain a new friend during each and every shoot.
I think what sets us apart is the fact that we provide more than a photoshoot. We provide an experience that energizes women and makes them feel amazing.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
We are constantly amazed with the number of amazing women that come to our studio for shoots. Celebrities, intellectuals…you name it and we have shot it and loved every minute of it!
