Meet Karis Gutierrez of PayDemand in Beverly Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Karis Gutierrez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Karis. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
It all started as a young girl, helping my dad with his business, filing, taking orders, loading pallets, and going to the meat/fish markets with him. I got a taste of business ownership and I loved it!

When I was going to college, studying business felt so natural to me. And when it was time to choose a career I fell into wealth management. It was the best career choice for me at that time and I learned SO much. It truly was an invaluable experience and really shaped me into the businesswoman that I am today. While working for Merrill Lynch and then Wells Fargo Private Bank, I was helping awesome people with their personal financial lives but something was missing.

My heart has always gravitated towards business owners. To me, business owners are rebels, they veered away from the road most taken and had the courage to make something out of nothing. So when I took a step back and thought about who I wanted to positively impact, business owner was a no-brainer. I knew that accepting credit cards was a pain point and I saw a need for a low-cost service that served business owners interests. And thus, PayDemand was born.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like most companies, we are getting our footing and shifting as necessary. I wouldn’t say we have had “struggles” but more teachable moments. There is this quote by Bill Gates that says, “Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning.”

I read that recently (again) and it took on a new meaning because as a business owner you are trying to put out the best product/solution. However, sometimes you fall short for whatever reason and you keep learning and growing. I think our road thus far has been smooth but success is never a straight path.

Please tell us about PayDemand.
PayDemand is a payment processing company that offers secure technology at a wholesale rate. Meaning, we are cheaper than our other *big* competitors and we offer mobile/e-commerce/retail solutions,

We serve a range of businesses, small and large, who want the lowest possible cost, the right solution for their business and a real relationship with the company that processes their payments. We are everything we would want in our payment processor if the tables were flipped.

We are proud to serve business owners and positively impact their bottom line. We are proud of being honest and transparent about pricing, always laying out every possible option and avenue. We are proud of being there for our clients when they need us most and always going above and beyond.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of my favorite childhood memories is cruising in my dad’s 1966 mustang down Pacific Avenue. I thought it was the coolest thing ever, still is.

Pricing:

  • Restaurants: Interchange + 0.25% + 0.05 per transaction
  • Ecommerce: Interchange + 0.35% + 0.15 per transaction
  • Storefronts: Interchange + 0.30% + 0.10 per transaction
