Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Hernandez.
Hi Jennifer, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
805 Entertainment was created from a passion for music, culture, and creating meaningful experiences that bring communities together. From the beginning, the vision was never just about hosting events — it was about building platforms where people feel connected, inspired, and seen through genuine artistry and creative expression.
As a single mother raising two boys, now ages 18 and 13, my journey has been deeply rooted in resilience, ambition, and wanting to create a better future for my family. Back in 2024, when I made the decision to officially start 805 Entertainment, I was at a crossroads in life. I knew I wanted more for myself professionally and personally, and I wanted to pursue something that truly aligned with who I am at my core. Music has always been a huge part of my life — not just entertainment, but something I’ve always had a deep emotional connection to. It became clear that creating experiences through music and live events was where my passion and purpose met.
What started as a small idea gradually grew into a company focused on curating live experiences that highlight both established talent and emerging artists who deserve greater exposure. I’ve always believed there are so many incredible creatives, especially within local communities, who simply need the right opportunity and environment to showcase their gifts. Through concerts, tribute events, and community-centered experiences, 805 Entertainment aims to create those opportunities while also giving audiences authentic, soulful experiences that go beyond entertainment.
At the same time, I’ve continued pushing myself academically and professionally. I’m currently enrolled at the Los Angeles Film School pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Entertainment Business, while also attending Cal State Los Angeles studying Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology. Balancing school, motherhood, and entrepreneurship has required discipline and sacrifice, but it has also strengthened my ability to lead, problem solve, and connect with people from many different walks of life.
Professionally, I work as a paralegal while also working on the side as a notary and bartender. Each role has contributed something valuable to my journey — from communication and organization to networking and relationship-building. Those experiences have helped shape how I operate both personally and within 805 Entertainment.
A huge part of my journey has been investing time into networking and building real, long-lasting relationships within the industry and the community. I’ve always believed that genuine connections matter more than simple business transactions. Whether it’s working with artists, venues, local businesses, or supporters, I value creating partnerships built on trust, respect, and shared vision. Those relationships have played a major role in the company’s growth and continue to open doors for collaboration, creativity, and community impact.
The journey has come with a lot of learning, growth, and persistence, but every step has strengthened my passion for creating something that positively impacts people. A major part of the company’s mission is uplifting the community through music, supporting artistry in its purest form, and helping cultivate spaces where creativity, culture, and connection can thrive together.
Today, 805 Entertainment continues to grow through collaborations with artists, venues, and local businesses, with a long-term vision of becoming a respected platform for live entertainment, artist development, and community empowerment throughout Ventura County, Los Angeles, and beyond.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Building a company in the entertainment industry comes with challenges on its own, but being a woman in a space that is often male-dominated has added another layer to that journey. There have been moments where I felt underestimated, overlooked, or not taken as seriously, especially while trying to establish myself in business, negotiate opportunities, and build credibility within the industry. I’ve had to work twice as hard to prove my vision, leadership, and ability to create impactful experiences.
On top of that, balancing everything academically and personally has not been easy. As a single mother raising two sons while pursuing my goals, there have been many moments where I’ve had to push through exhaustion, stress, and self-doubt. Managing two educational paths while working as a paralegal, notary, bartender, and simultaneously building 805 Entertainment and my brand The Alba drink line has required a tremendous amount of sacrifice, discipline, and time management. There have been days where balancing motherhood, school, work, and entrepreneurship felt overwhelming, but those experiences have also strengthened me and reminded me why I started this journey in the first place.
A lot of this journey required learning through experience, taking risks, and wearing multiple hats at once. Behind every event are countless hours of planning, networking, problem-solving, marketing, and relationship-building that people don’t always see. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the importance of standing firm in who I am, trusting my instincts, and continuing to move forward even when challenges or doubts arise.
Another challenge has been creating opportunities for artists and quality events in communities that are sometimes overlooked within entertainment. My goal has never been to simply throw events for profit — it has always been about creating meaningful spaces that uplift people, showcase true artistry, and give emerging creatives exposure and opportunity. Building those kinds of experiences takes genuine relationships, trust, and consistency over time.
Despite the obstacles, every challenge has strengthened my passion and purpose behind 805 Entertainment. As a woman entrepreneur, it’s important to me not only to build a respected entertainment company, but also to show other women — especially women balancing motherhood, careers, education, and big visions — that they can create space for themselves, lead confidently, and make a real impact in their communities and industries.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
805 Entertainment is a live entertainment and event company focused on creating experiences that bring people together through music, culture, and authentic artistry. We specialize in concerts, tribute shows, themed events, nightlife experiences, and community-centered entertainment that highlights both established performers and emerging talent. At the core of the brand is a passion for creating spaces where artists feel supported, audiences feel connected, and creativity can genuinely thrive.
What sets 805 Entertainment apart is the intention behind everything we do. We don’t just focus on selling tickets or creating one-time events — we focus on building culture, relationships, and memorable experiences that leave a lasting impact on the community. A major part of our mission is giving upcoming artists exposure and opportunities to perform in professional, high-quality environments while also bringing meaningful entertainment to areas that are often overlooked by larger entertainment companies.
Relationship-building is also one of the strongest foundations of our company. I’ve invested a tremendous amount of time into networking and building genuine, long-lasting relationships with artists, venues, local businesses, creatives, and supporters throughout Ventura County, Los Angeles, and beyond. Those relationships have helped shape the brand organically and allowed us to continue creating impactful collaborations and experiences rooted in trust and shared vision. That sense of authenticity and care is something people recognize when they attend our events or work with our company.
One of the newest expansions of the brand is the Alba Drink Line and branded products collection, which represents the lifestyle and hospitality side of 805 Entertainment. Alba was created as an extension of the energy behind our events — celebrating culture, connection, creativity, and elevated experiences. Alongside the drink line, we are also developing and selling branded bartending kits and related products that tie into the overall lifestyle vision of the company. The goal is to create products that allow people to bring that same experience, creativity, and atmosphere into their own homes, gatherings, and events.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of building something that stands for more than entertainment alone. 805 Entertainment represents community, creativity, opportunity, and perseverance. As a woman-owned company, it’s especially meaningful to continue growing a brand in this industry while staying true to the vision of uplifting others through music and culture.
I want readers to know that 805 Entertainment is about creating real experiences with heart and purpose — experiences that celebrate artistry, connect people, and help create opportunities for the next generation of creatives and performers.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I believe one of the most important qualities behind my success has been perseverance and the ability to genuinely connect with people. Building 805 Entertainment required resilience, consistency, and faith in my vision even during challenging moments. As a woman navigating the entertainment industry, I’ve had to stay confident, adaptable, and willing to keep pushing forward even when faced with obstacles or being underestimated.
At the same time, I think my ability to build authentic relationships has been one of the biggest reasons the brand continues to grow. I’ve invested a tremendous amount of time into networking, supporting others, and creating long-lasting connections rather than treating people like business transactions. Whether it’s artists, venues, local businesses, creatives, or supporters, I believe people can feel when your intentions are genuine, and that trust has helped open many doors throughout my journey.
Another quality that’s important to me is staying true to purpose and authenticity. Everything connected to 805 Entertainment — from live events to artist opportunities to the Alba drink line and bartending lifestyle products — is rooted in creating experiences that bring people together and uplift culture and creativity. I think when you genuinely care about what you’re building and the people you impact, it naturally creates something people want to support and be part of.
