Meet Glenn Keogh of Playa Vista

Today we’d like to introduce you to Glenn Keogh.

Hi Glenn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Born and raised in Dublin Ireland and armed with a Financial & IT experience/qualifications, I left the Emerald Isle for the sunny shores of Australia in my Mid 20’s. It was in Brisbane where I started my love affair with the Arts (Acting) and after 6 wonderful years in Australia (split between Melbourne and Brisbane), my next life adventure took me to Los Angeles! I arrived with a 3 year plan and now 20 years later, I am one year into that 3 year plan! I’ve been blessed to work consistently during those years, with many memorable gigs and projects, whilst exploring other business interests at the same time. In many ways I still feel I’m only getting started! As I continue down the path of producing projects/content, with valued friends and partners, I have developed a new found love/zest for the industry. It’s true what they say, the opportunities truly are limitless when you take the bull by the horn and create/produce your own stories.

Ireland will always be home but I’m eternally grateful to my adopted home of Los Angels for the experiences, friendships and opportunities it was presented over the years. Here’s hoping I get closer to completing that 3 year plan in the next 20 years!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Leaving home and then being so far away from loved one’s can be a challenge, particularly missing keys moments in our loved ones lives (christening’s, graduations, weddings etc). However, one could argue that a bit of separation/distance from family can be a good thing also…as you truly value and appreciate the quality time when you are together. As far as work goes, as we all know, we’ve gone through an interestingly challenging few years, however I’ve always been one to roll up my sleeves and hammer through it as an eternal optimist. I know no other way and to be honest I’ve no interest in any other way. Sure how would we appreciate the wins without the challenges?! I’m acutely aware I am the captain of my own ship and responsible for its direction, safety and journey. I’m very comfortable with that.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As I mentioned earlier, I’ve been very fortunate to work fairly steadily over the years in film and television. I guess I could be described as a career character actor and I wear that like a badge of honor. Ive had great fun working on projects such as Spider-Man “No Way Home”, Transformers 4, Curb your Enthusiasm (Stan the Prop man, Season 11), Agents of Shield, Magnum PI, Scorpion, NCIS, Once Upon a Time, Ray Donovan, Sons of Anarchy, Castle, Criminal Minds, amongst many others.

Each and every gig was special for its own reason and all live vividly in my memory. It is not lost on me how lucky I am to work and to be given the opportunity to bring some terrific characters to life. I treat each gig as if it were my first and last. Please God I get to continue to journey for many years to come. Creating a producing is a big focus for me now also and I recently wrapped on producing a Half hour comedy called “Fintan’s Irish Goodbye” which we have high hopes for. You can guess who plays the lead role of Fintan! Its bold and naughty, is there any other way? Have loved working with a cast and crew we hand picked based off projects we have worked on over the years. I’m at the stage where I’m playing and willing to leave it all on the floor. I believe we are doing that with this project.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Happy, adventurous, cheeky, focused and driven! Being one of 6 kids I had to fight to be heard and little did I know at the time but that helped build the confidence and resilience for later in life.

I was the quintessential sports nut who had dreams of playing for my beloved football/soccer team Liverpool. I played with great heart, was committed but nowhere near good enough to realize that dream. I’ve finally let that go, finding and performing in the Arts helped with that release!

I always had a sense of adventure to travel, get outdoors, workout, over commit to working out and being in contstant pain due to that over commitment! I’ll take that ethos to the grave with me no doubt!
