Today we’d like to introduce you to George Arvanitidis
Hi George, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always had a deep connection to the world of performing arts. I was born in Greece, and from a young age, I felt a strong pull toward the arts.
At 14, I made my theatrical debut in A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Shakespeare, which was a transformative experience for me. Later that year , I won first place in Greece’s National Student Singing Competition, and that really set the stage for my musical journey.
I attended Drama School and later went on to study Music, specializing in Vocals, at the University of Oxford in the UK. That experience completely shifted my perspective on art—it deepened my understanding of music and performance and opened me up to a broader view of the creative world.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of performing on a variety of stages, from music venues to theaters and musicals. I’ve worked hard to cultivate a diverse skill set that allows me to express myself in many ways, whether through singing, acting, or comedy.
A trip to Miami ended up changing the course of my career. I had the opportunity to participate in a program there that brought me to Los Angeles, where I took part in an Acting showcase. The bet paid off, and I ended up getting my first manager and agent. That moment really marked the beginning of my career in LA, both as a music artist and an actor.
Now, officially based in Los Angeles, I’ve been fortunate enough to release original music and perform on global stages, including in Los Angeles, London, and Athens and other cities. My career has also taken me into film, television, commercials, and live comedy, which has been such an exciting and dynamic journey. I love the versatility it brings, and it keeps me growing and evolving as an artist.
At the moment, I’m focusing on my debut album, which is a project I’m incredibly passionate about and proud of. I’m a very Rock and Roll-type artist, vocally and personally. But at the same time I admire many different types of music, and my versatile voice gives me the ability to sing across various styles. That’s why I didn’t hold anything back and wrote and produced a very versatile album with many different kinds of music. After all, as my third single that just came out on February 14th says, it’s truly a “Trip In My Mind,” and that’s why it became the title of the album.
It’s doing fantastic at the moment, and I’m so grateful to all my fans and friends for their support. It’s the only Latin single of the album, following “Hold On,” an upbeat Rock anthem, and “Living In Fear,” a very melodic R&B tune with a powerful message for all my fellow artists. I’m so happy that the Latin community has loved and appreciated “Trip In My Mind” so much. It’s doing great in the US and many Latin American countries, and that makes me very happy.
On February 14th, I also had the honor of performing the Halftime Show at the legendary Los Angeles Bachata Festival and experienced firsthand the love of the Latin community. As a Greek man, it makes me so happy that I’m reaching different cultures, and the Latin culture plays a huge role in American music and in me personally. I’m honored to be part of this amazing genre.
Many amazing things are on the way, with lots of surprises coming. One of them is going to be legendary, but that’s all I’ll say for now. 😉
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I never dwell on those matters, striving to maintain an upbeat and joyful spirit. Yet, like every artist embarking on that enchanting yet chaotic odyssey, I face my own set of obstacles and challenges.
The most formidable challenge, I believe, is preserving my identity. As an artist, I possess a distinct style, and I am committed to keeping it unique and true to my original essence and vision of what Art means to me. Authenticity is paramount.
This is why I consistently endeavor to write, produce, and compose my songs independently, ensuring that the Georgie’s touch and voice remain as vibrant as possible.
Having said that, I have always observed industry insiders attempting to, as our cherished female audience might term it, “man-explain” that one must adhere to specific patterns to achieve success and mimic existing elements to be deemed viable. Regrettably, in today’s industry, uniqueness is not a coveted trait. Everyone seems to be following the same path, seeking fame through conformity. The TikTok phenomenon exemplifies this, with individuals trying to replicate others just to gain notoriety. This trend has infiltrated music, as evidenced by the repetitive songs and voices dominating major radio stations.
Nevertheless, I never perceive this as a threat, but rather as an opportunity. It is a privilege to be a cyclops amidst a group of blind people.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As an artist, I find myself both blessed and challenged by the myriad forms of expression I can wield. My journey spans the realms of singing and songwriting, acting, comedy, and directing, each offering a unique canvas for my creativity. When I embark on a new project, it becomes a symphony of these diverse talents, a testament to the artistic tapestry I have woven throughout my life.
Presently, my heart beats with the rhythm of my latest endeavor: the release of my upcoming debut album, “Trip in My Mind.” This project is a source of immense excitement, as I have already released three singles, with many more poised to follow. Among the surprises, there is a monumental announcement I must keep under wraps for now. Let’s just say it involves a cover, or perhaps a reimagining, of an iconic song that my team and I have successfully secured the license for. The details remain shrouded in mystery, but my anticipation for this project is nothing short of exhilarating.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
Reading: My mind is an endless pit, haha. So, I’m into many different things. Lately, I’ve been revisiting Tolkien’s work for the umpteenth time. Definitely a series of books that played a significant role in my own development as a writer and artist. I’ve also been engrossed in comic books, particularly a new comic Company by Geoff Johns called Ghost Machine.
Podcasts: I’m currently listening to Dana Carvey and David Spade’s podcast, and I also love Conan O’Brien’s podcast.
Apps: I use a lot of music production and editing apps (a lot, haha). That is my main usage of apps. I really try not to be on my phone and devices for a long period of time. Because the nature of my work demands a lot of screen time.
I also spend a some time on Instagram that is my main platform of communication with my fans and friends and playing RPG games.
