Meet Deijah Smith of Los Angeles / OC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deijah Smith.

Hi Deijah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was the young girl with BIG dreams growing up in a small town. Many people didn’t understand the vision I had for my life but I did. I’ve always had a passion for fashion, the arts and entertainment. So, it’s no coincidence that I found myself on movie sets in big cities like Atlanta, Georgia and Los Angeles, California. I have dabbled in working in production, AI content creation, acting , modeling and styling. I am now working on my new baby “SLS” the Soft Life Sanctuary. My business partner and I are currently building this boutique from the ground up which is so exciting. We are currently setting up pop-up shops on melrose ave. Come check us out! Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, it’s been hard navigating a world when you don’t have a step by step guide of what to do and what not to do. Trial and error has been my biggest teacher in life. I’ve started several small businesses that went absolutely nowhere but there was a learning lesson in each failure . I had to create a mindset that the money and time invested wasn’t a loss but a stepping stone. That’s my motivation to keep going until I find the perfect one that will be successful.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I have many lanes and avenues where I express my creativity. However, modeling is what I’m most proud of. I am no where near close to what a model is supposed to be which is what sets me apart from the others. I’m short & I have plenty of meat on my bones but I’ve managed to walk in both New York and LA fashion week. I’ve also worked with some of the most amazing celebrity photographers and hairstylists along the way.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I believe that people don’t know how hard I struggle with staying motivated because all of the “no’s” you get pursuing a career in entertainment. The outside world may describe me as confident. Although, I have to be intentional about making sure I water that because confidence can be easily destroyed in an industry like this, if you allow it.
