Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Bible.

Chris, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Being a LA native, the cost of living can drive a person insane! With that said, most residents have multiple streams of income to make ends meet. I was no exception. I brainstormed some ideas of how I could supplement my income. I was fully aware that the beauty industry is a multi-billion dollar market. So I thought to myself, what is the one beauty regime I can’t live without…with no hesitation I knew lash extensions were it!

Back in 2016, my bread and butter was working in corporate America in Human Resources, making a mediocre salary. As a mother of four, I had to be strategic with my financial decisions. So eventually I invested a few thousands dollars to obtain my lash certification, supplies, equipment and began providing lash services. I went from working out of my home during the week after my 9-5 and from dusk to dawn on the weekends to build my clientele. To my surprise, I grew my clientele to capacity within a few months and did the unthinkable. I rented a cozy beauty suite in Torrance, CA. Now, this was risky as it’s literally picking up a second rental income expense. Yet, it ended up being the best decision I could make. My clientele more than tripled.

As a result, I invested over $25k into obtaining my esthetician and business licenses and started my own lash extension product line. Things picked up so quickly, I started getting countless inquiries from my social media following to offer lash training courses. Needless to say, I was creating my own beauty empire. After renting the adorable suite in Torrance for little over a year, in the summer of 2018, I moved into a gorgeous commercial retail storefront in Hawthorne, CA. SheLuvsLashes now offers facial treatments, brow wax and tinting, lash services, training, and products! I was able to disentangle myself from corporate America’s second rate salary cap to making six figures within two years of full-time entrepreneurship!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There’s definitely been some road bumps and unforeseen detours. The initial challenges were many. I had to sacrifice significant time away from my husband and children to acquire the necessary education, practice, and licenses to get my business legit. From there it was the realization that I no longer have the security blanket of corporate perks like PTO (paid time off) or medical benefits. Literally, if I don’t work I don’t get paid! If I’m sick or go on vacation, I’m ultimately losing out on money!

Somehow, that challenge only fuels my hustle. I find that to be a successful entrepreneur or any aspect of your life, your faith has to override your fear. There are many times I don’t know how I’ll be able to pull certain goals off, but I just keep pushing forward and have a relentless faith that the energy I put into the universe will create a way.

SheLuvsLashes Beauty Bar and Retail offers an array of beauty services. Clients can enjoy fabulous lash extension services, indulge in radiant facial treatments, obtain lash certification and purchase lash products. Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t know if luck is the right word, more like what role has faith played? Faith has been the foundation of my business that has bestowed countless blessings on not only my business but my family. I employ my eldest daughter who has now made my venture a mommy/daughter duo.
