Today we’d like to introduce you to Briana Champ.
Briana, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a self-taught, Chef/Baker. Cooking & Baking have always been passionate for me. I come from a family of great cooks, so I’ve definitely got it honest. I remember I made cupcakes for my sister’s baby shower one year, & everyone inquired about them. That’s how it all started. I started to experiment in the kitchen by “tweaking” recipes, trying this & challenging myself on that, etc. I started with a focus on sweets. I’d have Pop-Up shop bake sales where I’d sell out in pre-orders before I could even take regular orders. Just this year, I decided to rebrand, to include cooking! It’s been a few years overall, but this is just the beginning!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road to success isn’t easy unless there’s a silver spoon shoved in your mouth. Unfortunately, that’s not my story. When I decided to start this, I was a single mommy of 2 beautiful children. I had to juggle my main responsibilities as a mother, my 9-5, & then now, my business. There were plenty of times I became inconsistent due to self doubt &/or simply being overwhelmed. My children & I also experienced homelessness for a season. I gave up “entrepreneurship” completely. During my time off the requests for my services seemed to be at an all time high, & I began to slowly, but surely get back into it. Those struggles formed me into who I am today; a FIGHTER… with great STRENGTH.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Breezy’s Sweets and Eats story. Tell us more about the business.
Breezy’s Sweets & Eats is a ministry. I’m a servant. When I say that, I mean, yes it’s my livelihood, but God has also given me specific assignments to take care of the poor, to link with programs involving children, & some other things that are coming in the near future.
Some of my services include private cooking, Pop Up Shops, Deliveries, Date Nights & catering.
I am proud of this business & grateful for loyal and consistent patrons. They give constructive criticism, they tell me how GREAT the food/sweets were, they invest, they donate, they play a huge part in my success!
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t do the “luck” thing….. so, please know that The Favor of God is resting heavily on me!! Favor has played a huge role in my life & business. It has been confirmed that this is what I’m supposed to be doing, and even when the challenges of entrepreneurship come about, I’m reminded that I’m the ONLY person that can provide what I have! There can be a million people doing ONE thing, & it’ll be done ONE million different ways, still. I have a gift and I have to execute it. There are people out there that need ME.
