Today we’d like to introduce you to BreAnne Farmer.
BreAnne, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My journey started very young due to me being raised by a family that could always “throw down” in the kitchen. As a really young kid (and I mean like 8 or 9) I started watching the Food Network and began trying to create recipes I saw. I would fail time and time again because I didn’t quite understand the concept of a recipe but I never gave up. With time and patience, I had recipes nailed to the point where I could just look at the ingredients it took to make the dishes and just create them while adding my own flair to them. This ultimately led me to pursue a Culinary Arts Degree from Le Cordon Bleu in 2012 in which I use to Cater, Meal Prep and create Private Dining Experiences.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was not always a smooth road simply due to the fact that towards the end of obtaining my Culinary Arts Degree, I had just had a child (My son Kasey). I was granted the offer to complete an Externship for Walt Disney World in Florida and was torn between the decision to go or stay in California. Luckily I have a great support system which allowed me to pursue my career path but left me feeling homesick and missing my child for five months. It was very tough yet rewarding and allowed me to learn how to properly conduct myself in the food industry.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Essence of Bre – what should we know?
Essence of Bre is focused on sourcing the freshest ingredients possible to create simple/upscale Cuisines from an array of different cultures to those who enjoy flavorful food. We specialize in (but are not limited to) Catering and Private Dining Experiences which showcases our quality of our food despite the quantity of people being served. It has always been my dream to showcase my expression of art through food and bring people together (no matter what their status is) to enjoy fresh food that is always made with love and the true essence of who I am. I am a firm believer in the saying,”When you’re passionate about what you do it doesn’t feel like work”.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I feel like perfection has allowed me to really hone my craft. If something doesn’t taste right or look right, I will do it over and over again until I get it. Perfection is a gift and a curse in a sense but when it comes to the outcome of the quality of my food, I don’t expect anything less.
