Meet Ari Tabak of Ari Tabak Coaching & Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ari Tabak

Hi Ari, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began my career working in tech and moved into leadership roles somewhat quickly. I was making decent money, enjoyed helping people be set up for success in their careers, but I wasn’t stimulated by the work itself. I always planned on starting a family, and was looking forward to that being a bit of an escape from a job I wasn’t passionate about. I had begun a coaching course with the goal of that being my side hustle. After experiencing two miscarriages, I realized I couldn’t emotionally heal while simultaneously being a great boss in a job that wasn’t fulfilling. So in the span of 3 weeks, I had experienced my second miscarriage, decided to quit my job, and start my own coaching business. (I would not recommend this!) It was a very challenging and insecure period of time for me, and I was still trying to create a family. It took several years and lots of mistakes and lessons, but I’m so incredibly happy with where I’ve ended up. I have two little kiddos (who I love and who drive me crazy), I am working for myself part-time in my own coaching practice, I am running a mom group focused on community and self-care (because moms typically suck at prioritizing themselves), and am leading leadership and coaching skills workshops. I have always been incredibly passionate about supporting others in leaning into their vulnerability and making empowered decisions, leading to a life of true alignment and fulfillment. My motto in life and coaching is *chase resonance*, and I feel so grateful that I get to empower people to do this on a daily basis.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has absolutely not been a smooth road! I also don’t think it would be as fulfilling if it were perfectly smooth. I find that it typically takes an “oh shit” moment for people to pivot, be it a miscarriage, getting laid off, or some other traumatic event. I wish I had had the support of a coach or mentor who encouraged me to look at the big picture and question my decisions before I found myself in my own “oh shit” moment.

As you know, we’re big fans of Ari Tabak Coaching & Consulting . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
In all transparency, I am not a fan of the term “Life Coach”. When my therapist had suggested I look into this career path, I laughed at her and told her that Life Coaches weren’t real and that it was a term housewives used when they were asked what they do for a living. After doing research and realizing that it was in fact a real job and that it was my DREAM job, there was no turning back.

In my job, I help people gain a stronger sense of self, resulting in more clarity and confidence in their life decisions. I love working with a diverse set of clients so every session feels totally different! Depending on the client’s needs, I may get to use my business brain and help an entrepreneur tackle the vision they have for their new brand, or I may work with someone who wants to tap more into their spirituality and I’ll lead them through guided visualizations. I feel so grateful to work with people who are ready to level up in their lives and careers, and who know that it’s way more effective, fun, and rewarding when you do it with a professional by your side.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Covid reinforced the importance of adaptability and the ability to pivot. It’s such a metaphor for life! It ended up being the global “oh shit” moment for SO many people. Careers were heavily impacted, and many people were forced to ask themselves tough questions like, “what really makes me happy?” Working with a professional when tackling that type of identity exploration is so crucial.
