Meet A.NT.E of North Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to A.NT.E

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My earliest exposure to music started with band in grade school. I played percussion, started teaching myself piano and experimented with producing in FL Studio. Taking multiple theory classes and playing in jazz band in high school set a solid foundation for me. I studied and pursued a degree in Music Business during my undergrad at the University of Memphis, and next thing you know my whole life revolves around music. I give acknowledgment mostly to my village of friends and peers who I had the pleasure to be in the presence of and be a sponge to so much musical influence. Being around so many talented and otherworldly musicians and creatives in my hometown, Memphis, fueled the passion and relationship I have with music. I didn’t always know it was going to be my gift, but I’m glad that it is and that I impact people.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think anything really worth persuing comes with ease; I’ve definitely had hurdles and bumps along the way. What I’ve experienced during my journey so far has mostly just been me facing myself in the midst of adversity, to be honest. Whether it’s grief, theft, being let down, losing my car, having to move across the country with no family, or whatever- at the end of the day, it was always me and my mind that had to be conquered. Focusing on growth, having that deep, emotional connection to music and fixing my mind that there is no other reality than for me to be doing this for the longrun, is what carries me through the days while enjoying the process so much that it gives me the utmost thrill and fulfillment.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I like to consider myself a musical conglomerate. My expertise and what I’m known for consists of music production/beat-making, being a multi-instrumentalist, sound-designer, a curator, jazz musician, a one-man-band and more. I thrive in being a creative and helping push audible art towards the future. I’m most proud of the growth I’ve made and the opportunities I get for people to experience my music, especially in live settings. I am definitely grateful for the knowledge and experiences I’ve gained and my adaptive nature of constantly evolving.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is being able to impact people with my music. I’m all about vibes and experiences so if I’m able to give people a moment of escaping and feeling like they’re in a different place, I’ve done my job. Also leaving better than I left matters to me; leaving a place, leaving a moment, leaving an era, I’m always trying to work on being better than I was yesterday.
